I've been having some troubles replacing the rear view mirror on our 98 NB.
Here is the mirror from our car:
The part glued to the windscreen looks like this:
It appears that at some stage the mirror supplier \"Donnelly\" changed the way their mirrors mount to the windscreen.
Here's what the connector looks like on the \"newer\" mirrors, apparently the NB8A imports also have this style of mount.
So here's my question,
If you have a late NA (with windscreen mounted mirror) or an NB, what year is your car and which model mount do you have?
A)
B)
C) Something different.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Have you tried removing the button -
Q: I know this is trivial to you car pros, but it is a headache to a lot of car owners. How do I remove the button (bracket) that holds the rear view mirror on the windshield? A lot of people on the internet asked the question with no solid answers. I heard from an auto glass shop owner that if the button is made of metal it cannot be removed. If it is made of plastic you might be able to remove it using heat (parked in the sun) and a razor blade to pry around behind it. Have any of you experienced this problem? JERRY LINDER
A: Park the car in the sun until it's good and hot. Take a crescent wrench and just spin the button off in a circular motion, easy as pie.
I put the button on upside down and couldn't get it off. The candle tip worked like a charm. Heat up the button for a couple of minutes then insert a screw driver between the windsheild and the button. Tap downward with a hammer on the screwdriver. The button will fall right off. Didn't even leave a scratch! Thanks

Windscreen Mounted Rear View Mirror Survey
I only just realised recently that the mirror stalk can be adjusted to raise the mirror up or over to the left etc. When I bought my 5 the mirror was low in the middle of the windscreen and I was always ducking under and around the mirror trying to see out the windscreen.
So now I have the mirror up and out of the way. Der...
