Adam's 2001 in Crystal Blue

I decided to treat myself to a selfish car. I have been driving family cars for too long and now it is my turn.
For a few months i looked are everthing from 1989 up to 2000 for a decent machine that could be used as a daily driver without much of a spend.
I covered many internet miles and road mile looking at many cars. Nothing really grabbed me, either too many K's or too much ware and tear.

Finally i found my 2001 machine, 6 speed, vvt, abs etc. 80,000 on the clock and terrific condition.

I drove it for a week and have a huge grin. Then the rain drops started to fall and i found the pp2 tires are past their prime. Now i have a new set on and they are great.

I didnt like the ride height, i found a set of tein basics and on they went, what a magnificent piece of kit.

Now i am waiting on a style bar out of the US and am looking for an exhaust to give a nicer note.

Hey Adam
Before you go style bar from the US, have a look at the twin hoop torque box roll bars from MX5 plus.

I just fitted one on my NB8B and they look everybit as good as a style bar and actually work as a roll bar (hopefully you never have to test it) and really reduce scuttle shake. They have a group buy on at present were you can get a really good price.

Anyway mate just a thought

Thanks for the tip but i have the bar here and fitted. I got it for cosmetic reasons only and the ability to fit in 5 mins, no cutting , no removing the wind deflector made the buying easy.

hrmm... i'm a bit worried about that style bar not requiring any cutting... as bad as cutting sounds, the ones that do require the cutting actually bolt in much firmer than the ones that are a simple bolt in watch out when your car flips. you'll be pancake.

Too funny, if i manage to flip my car i dont think i will be worrying about anything

I bought the style bar purely for the look, i dont expect it will offer anymore protection than the softtop.

I went out to the factory, the exhaust was for a NA, no NB's available right now.

So i am still looking for a exhaust

Yep, frenzy wave bar.

It is a two bolt job, purely cosmetic. It offers no extra bracing or protection. I just like the look

Your car looks really good Adam, I like that colour blue. I guess the bar just bolts under the seat belt bolt...??

Thanks OD, yep, just under the seat belt bolts. The kit included some spacers to get it all right.

The car has been running real nice but i had a desire to get a service done to make sure all the fluids were OK.

The guys i use always flush the engine during the oil change process (i am amazed at the gunk that comes out) and run injector cleaner thru the system.

After the service the motor runs much better (smoother).

I have also wanted a nicer exhaust note, much searching has turned up not much. I originally wanted a remus rear muffler (none to be had here in OZ) or a japanese tuner system (also none to be found).

So i went to my local exhaust shop and the guys put a rear muffler on that is a free flowing unit, i cant really feel any performance difference but the car now sounds better. Its certainly not loud or boomy , just a little "tougher"
