Front number plate location

Hi all,

I have just bought my NB8A and need to change the plates from NSW to QLD.
I have ordered a couple of new slimline plates to match the size of these existing NSW ones:

My question is, is this a good location for the plate? Its nice and out of the way and does not cover the body, as I have seen on some MX5's, but is it bad for airflow? I did not have any temperature issues when I drove back from Sydney, but it aint summer yet...

Its also borderline on being obscured.

thanks

As sliq said, it shouldn't be problem as a daily driver even in summer. Though if you turbo it and the like, I'd be moving it out of the way.

It should be fine for daily driving, but why make the car have to use the fans more or run even hotter.

I've seen bog standard MX-5s with the same plate location as yours overheating on the track but once the plate was moved they ran fine all day.

Just move it out of the way, seems like a no brainer to me.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

There's no doubt that's very possible, but why risk the chance it gets too hot?

Should also note that the NB temp gauge is more of an on/off switch than a true temperature gauge.

I have had problems with overheating, hot summer night + blocked airflow = bad.

Just get a mx5plus number plate bracket, They sit the number plate above the bumper opening. For $30, they are good insurance.
