Mr Morlock wrote:$5K and you think it will be good job? Guys with classics will tell you differently. A mate's sports car cost $18k- bare metal respray albeit with some body work. I would not even think about such a deal. A repaint has to be done perfectly- firewall inside doors remove trims etc etc- a big job if done properly. Take the payment in good old fashioned cash.

A perfect respray is not cheap yeah, but it all depends if you care what colour the inside of your doors are!

Personally, I would never buy a car with pearlised paint, even if it was from the factory, although I really do like the effect.

Some years ago, my father wanted to buy a Eunos 800M and he asked me what colour he should get.
I reccomended that he get any colour he wanted, but to stay away from the pearl white.
So, what did he buy? A pearl white 800M!

It looked really good when it was new, but within a month or so, it had some parking damage on it then he had a little bingle and had the car repaired.

After a couple of years, the car had about 6 shades of pearl white on it, as it is virtually impossible to match pearl paints, and to do a good job, you have to have the entire car re-sprayed.

i'm swaying to the dont do it side.

the car would not sell if you were to sell it, and if you tend to drive up to the shops in it etc, some tool will come along and bump into it with their trolley and so on.
