POWER-ANTENNA FOR N/A

Postby saddles » Sat May 30, 2009 7:43 am

G'day..... new member here please be gentle. My problem is I'm having trouble finding a power antenna short enough to fit in the space in the boot where the old aerial is. Max Iengh of ANTENNA "can" only be 180mm approx.
Can anyone help with part number and who sells them???

Regards.... Saddles

I think about the only type that will fit is the Mazda one.

G'day
Thanks JBT I was afraid it was going to come down to a genuine part, I can only imagine the cost, anyone know?? Anyhow I'll find out monday morning, then again, I can buy genuine oil filters at mazda cheaper than ryco ones at super-cheaps'......... "Supercheap" that's a joke, I was looking for slim-line number plate frames about a week or so ago, $30.Their new "sale" catledog came out end of last week, while I was in store looking for a power-antenna I thought I'd have a look at the frames again........slim-line number plate frames now $34.50..........thanks supergreed.
My radio( sony) requires a relay to power the aerial, is this common? Won't be a problem though with the battery also in the boot.
I think I might see what Autobarn want for their relays rather than super-greeds.
Thanks
Saddles

Save yourself the hassle and just put a rubber duck antenna on it.
That way, you won't have to worry about a relay either.

Did you have any luck getting an ant?
I need one as well - I cant leave the ant up as I pull over a cover.

Thanks for the reply mxhevn -
The NA has a short distance from the guard to the wheel arch. So if yours is about 250mm or less from the part that goes under the mud guard to the lowest point (water drain exit to the pipe).
I will also need the male plug if you have it -as mine just has + & - wires with round wire connectors - but I can solder them to the correct plug.
If thats OK we will have a sale

this is the factory NB antenna, i'm sure its a similar length to the NA antenna, as they are located in the same position, but on opposite sides.

pretty sure NB isn't direct fit because the shape of the rear quarter panels and positioning of antennas are different. NAs have the antenna mounted on a flatter surface.

Thanks Locutus -your right
I checked out a neighbours NB yesterday - I did not pull his internal boot liner to check the length. I think I can cut the wedge shaped rubber grommet at a lower angle to suit the NA.
I have a manual retractable aerial on now that is short enough but it is is not sealed - designed to go in a mudguard that is drained to the outside- in theNA it drains in the boot when it rains.
I'll buy MXHEVN s - If its too long I'll resell it back to a NB.

Any rubber antenna is suitable, but you will need an adaptor as the threads are a different diameter. I bought mine for a store many moons ago.
Regards car covers, just cut a slit into it for the rubber antenna.
