Has anyone ever replaced the original carpet in the mx5? Mine has become patchy and I am looking to replace the original carpeting.

Firstly, please update your location in your user control panel so local forum members can point you in the right direction (if necessary).connico wrote:Has anyone ever replaced the original carpet in the mx5? Mine has become patchy and I am looking to replace the original carpeting.

Secondly, I have done all the interior in my NA6 nine years ago. I say do it if you love your MX5, plan to keep it or both!
I wish I still had pics from the old Autosalon days...nothing in my photo collection on the carpets.

Con I imagine that Mazda has originals. Failing that a trimmer will be able to easily copy your carpets. You will need to dig around to see who is hot in Perth and doing good work- Okibi might have an idea seeing as he has a Spitty.

A trimmer can do a pretty good job, but if you want a really good finish, then you need to get a moulded carpet.
Obviously, the OEM carpet from Mazda will be moulded, but there is a mob in Sydney that advertises in the classic car magazines called Moulded Carpets, or something like that.
You could probably find them in the yellow pages under motor trimmers or auto carpets etc.
They do a custom moulded carpet set for the MX-5, and they also have it available in a number of colours too.
If your car is red, for example, then red carpets in a black interior would look really nice.
They aren't expensive either, and their stuff is pretty good.
A friend of mine did up an old Falcon some time ago, and got a set from them, and they fitted perfectly and looked very nice.
They even have a choice of pile heights as well.
I have no affiliation with them.
