I need to be able to leave some things in the car when I've left the roof down but keeping them a) out of sight and b) locked up. They're bigger than the glovebox. So is there such a thing as a larger lockable armrest, or some other type of lockable box that someone's already invented, so I don't need to reinvent the wheel?
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Here's an idea
Go to one of the cheapie auto shops and buy a small lockable metal tool box,a small bike lock with the wire that locks into the unit.Place unit on floor then feed the wire loop through the handle and around one of the passenger seat mounting points and connect the male point of the wire back into the female side of the lock...DONE. when you are done undo the lock and take the tool box with....It's what i use

After leaving a few items sitting on the passenger seat and having windows smashed to get at said items I never leave anything in the cabin. Takes two seconds to put it in the boot. To me a locked box might stop someone reaching in and doing a quick grab and run, but it will grab their attention and make them wonder what you are trying to protect...they will probably do more damage to get at the items than the items are worth, which is what happened to me.

The NC has storage compartments behind the seats if you want to reinvent the wheel.
