NA6 ECU & Loom

Postby madboy » Thu Apr 30, 2009 1:35 pm

Can anyone direct me to a picture of a standard NA6 ECU & loom? preferably still bolted into the foot well?

I pulled up the carpet last night to see what the floor below looked like(see if it gets wet often), saw a fair bit of corosion on the ecu cover plate, all the nuts were only finger tight so I had a peek and noticed what looks like a small relay tapped to the outside of the orginal loom(couldn't trace the wires, but i think they followed the loom up behind the dash) and what looks like two vampire clips with the tails of cut wires still on the loom wiring.

Before I start pulling stuff apart to find out what the relay is for, I wanted to make sure it wasn't standard 1st.

No sure if I still have photos of my ECU and loom in place, but based on your description I would say that it is not standard. Time for a wire trace me thinks. Has the car had any mods done?

Will try and look for the photos I took and post them.

This is the only photo that I have available. It shows the newer ECU in the original NA6 case, and the original wiring loom. The yellow wire is an additional earth that I added.

I think I may have been jumping at shadows

orange circle, I have this on mine as well, this is the small relay looking thing i was talking bout

blue circle is about where the vampire clips where on mine, can't remember what coloured wires they were.

Hmm let me go back to a newbies hopes and wonders

not long after i brought my roadster, i replaced he shift boots and bushes on the shifter, while doing this I found a black box, approx, 20mmx50mmx70mm, it was in the area of the shift lever, I had no idea what this was, still don't. So my imagination got the better of me :) I had great difficulty putting this somewhere and still getting the center console to sit right, so, I figure this is not normal and maybe something special :)

So, today, i have the headers off(grrr bastard still didn't weld the whole crack! whos open on saturday to weld extractors!), gearbox drained of oil, and I take the center console off to get at the turret. I have a closer look at the mysterious black box and notice its bascially a bypass to the normal plug to the electric window switches. so, what is this little box? auto window up? who knows, will look up some of the chip codes tomorrow.

in the end, butt dyno that says my roadster is a whole chunk perkier than the 7 other 5's I test drove befoe buying this one maybe totally unfounded unless in put it on a dyno :)

Thanks for your time Juffa
