reflectors!? What do u have...

Postby mx5titanium » Thu Apr 30, 2009 12:48 am

Well i got sick and tired of the look of the reflectors. so i decided to make my own grill inserts for all 4. was alot of stuffing around but finished made a good backing for them and they look good, well i think so any ways.
just wondering if any one has done the same.. or any thing else along those lines. post some pics up if you have! :)

Sorry for the pool image quality, i really need to get myself a camera and stop using my phone..

I got an old set of reflectors 2nd hand (thanks Andrew  ) and put the originals away in storage
Sanded down the lettering like so many do and sprayed over 2 coats of body paint

I like the neater look personally

I realy like that idea, the tint and the mesh arent really my thing, but I quite like the coloured idea!

Very easy to do too...
just use a high grit sand paper to sand off the lettering, a low grit paper to smooth out the swirls
Pick up a small can of paint matched spray at your favourite auto store
coat once, sand back smooth just in case swirls show through
coat again, and bobs your uncle

my method will probably make professional painters cry... but it works!

errrrr.....why would you paint your reflectors body colour? They are meant to reflect.

sanding off the lettering is great idea though.

Sanding the letters off and giving them a good polish looks great. But painting them!? is that even legal?...

Aluminium paper stuck on plywood then covered with floro reflector cover. This way its legal as it doesnt reflect. If it did it would need to be orange. Latest addition is Mazda surrounds which neaten it up.
