Wun must be going for straight line speed
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Because in corner predictability, chassis stiffness, insurance, cornering performance and god knows what else all comes second place before weight

But striaght line speed is less about weight, but power

Actually, it's to do with both... power to weight is the all important factor, not just power.

Weight has to do with the acceleration of the vehicle. It is ultimately the power, gearing as well as Cd that decides outright speed.

I'm not sure about safety I guess it would be like an NB8A in an accident, but not quite as safe as volvo??

I wish the under body bracing was like the ones in a lotus elise. Flat sheets of aluminum; stiff and helps reduce drag.

I get most of my lightweight ideas from this list:

So that's why you removed the rear seats

Wun, did you weigh the braces? cant be over 10kg all up.

Your soft top is 14KG, time to take them off!

I weighed a soft top and frame the other day. Including the rain rail bracket it was close to 19kg. This was an NA top, not sure how different an NB would be.

The hard top is 21kg.

The whole top assembly for the NB is lighter - because the frame is lighter.

Is anyone here running one of these? Is it really as good as they claim and worth the $$$?

AB7 wrote:Welcome Ando, Thanks for sharing.
Btw those bars are standard on 2001 NB8B onwards, and you can install them also on to NB8A.
There are some other company that makes similar braces to yours (Autoexe, Cusco) but its quite expensive.
IMO prob the best chassis brace out-there is FM butterfly brace

It's a lot of $$$ and a lot of fresh holes to be drilled. 16 all up, I think?

The holes put me off and the results from the other bracing is very noticable and cheaper. The FM braces would be ideal for a lowered car though. The Ultra Racing ones do hang a bit, so clearance is reduced.
Cheers,
Ando

Really? ... Source? ... And where did they make this weight saving?

Sigh
