Parked my car in the city today, and returned to find a.....

Postby Amanda » Mon Apr 27, 2009 8:03 pm

What is it with me and MX-5s I ask you!

So the story goes.... Parked my car in the city today, and returned to find a note on the windshield. I'm like 'oh no what the hell is that' so I pick it up and it says something along the lines of 'I'm sorry I damaged your car, please call I'll pay for it to be repaired' and then has a name and a phone number on it.

I haven't called the guy yet, I'll do so in a few hours and report back what we discuss.

That sucks Amanda!

On another note though you are very lucky. it's quite rare to find someone who will own up like that in the city

Just think how good having a freshly painted front bar will be, no stone chips or any road dadmage at all

And i think that sounds like a pretty sweet deal re the badges, go black ftw

The damage is slight... I was more concerned that I've had a MX-5 for all of a few weeks, and already something has happened to it.
Every MX-5 I've had has had something happen to it. None of my other cars have such incidents errr :(

I know, awesome hey! I haven't called yet, might be a dodgy phone number :)

I'm thinking we go halves in the $450... no point punishing anyone for being honest

was the front bar a bit below par then??.........if so, you're probably on the mark with halvsies..........if it was pristine, hit him up for the lot, 450 bucks is a pretty good quote for a repair & respray 8)

The bar wasn't pristine. It had 2 marks from the number plate bracket. It now has about 9 marks on it!

The repairer said they are happy to do a cash price, given he was so honest. They are a pretty good mob.

Sorry to hear that.
Its good that there's still good honest people around.

Recently I saw a bimbo trying to park next to BMW X5 and managed to hit it. She had a laugh and drove off. I wrote her plate number and left it on the X5.

Similar incident happened to my daughter's boyfriend recently.

Awitness saw a van do a three point turn into the front of his Magna. Damaged a fender and bumper bar.

Witness left note with the van's rego. number. Boyfriend reported it to police who then rang the van driver.
The van driver denied causing the damage.

Wasn't worth taking the matter any further. Had to claim on his insurance for repairs.

Moral of this story......there are a lot of dishonest people out there.

Sorry to hear it but I hope it all gets repaired without any stress. :?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

The name that was left on Amanda's car was mine along with my mobile number.

I have spoken an length to Amanda and we have both concluded that I was not responsible for hitting her car.

The person that did this knows who I am and how to contact me.

We both feel that this is a very low act for some one to have done to both of us.

If anyone knows anything or the person would like to come forward please send an email to the address below or send me a PM and we can talk about it.

My email address is - andrew@andrewedgar.com

To follow on from Andrew's post above. I'd also like to say how bitterly disappointed i am that someone would do this to Andrew and Myself.

I'm feeling quite jaded about this to be honest, it's really not a funny joke at all if that's what it was intended to be.

If its old damage then perhaps someone was having a joke, but if someone really did damage it then it's pretty low.

*scratches head*
Hang on.... lemme get this straight....
-someone damaged Amanda's car
-said someone left a note stating that he/she is Andrew Edgar and left contact details accordingly
-Amanda henceforth rang Andrew
-Andrew thus explained that someone is playing a "joke" on Amanda

Am I right?

PS: oh BTW Andrew, that photo you printed out for me is haunting me cause I can't find a frame big enough so I can hang it up properly. :P
