I would not call the MSNP an early adoption ecu big fella theres hundreds if not thousand in use in the USA & the UK too.

As far as I know it only adjusts fuel and just enrichens the AFR across the entire rev range to make a "safe" tune for turbo use, and it's regarded as a bit of a budget/band-aid solution. I don't know anyone on here who is using it on their setup.
Miataturbo.net would have some knowledgeable boffins.

Base map was OK to test drive for leaks etc. Took it on the trailer to TAS in Toowoomba Tuesday for final tuning. Pick it up 2morrow so will let you know.

Will have a look at ozmx5 now! Thx for your ph advice the other day.

I'd rather use someone closer but who else knows MS well on forcefed 5's? They do seem to know their Mazda's and are obviously performance oriented. Having said that I've got a very safe tune for now.

Will let you know my honest opinion next week after some road driving and some spirited driving at 2 tracks on the weekend.

They have tuned a good few MSPNP's that are on Supercharged mx's and I must say I am quite happy with the tune that they did for me.

Does anyone thats built their own MS1 want to earn some pocket money?

I can't solder terribly well (well, not to a standard that I'd trust on something like this) and have very little spare time atm with fulltime work, casual job and doing fulltime Masters at uni, and none of my friends that had promised to build it for me have come through.

So now I'm willing to pay someone to do it. MS1 with the usb adapter and boost control, to suit a NA8 BP with AVO turbo kit

Cheers

Well,

As per questions above methinks TAS did a fantastic job of a very safe MSPNP tune. Only 8psi boost, very flat AF ratio throughout the rev range with max torque and power around 6K, and equally smooth and strong from 3K onward right to the soft/hard limit.

I'll get the dyno chart up here at some stage but very smooth lines and the seat of the pants experience supports the chart line.

A country cruise from Toowoomba to the Southside last Thursday revealed what 160HP at the wheels was like vs a std 1600 of maybe 80hp. I wish I had a videophone so my mates could see the silly boyish grin on my face. My main concern was whether I'd have heating issues but no sign of that whatsover.

Sunday was a Motorkhana at Willowbank with both my son and I driving it for a dozen short 20-40 sec bursts. Great to have that extra punch on occasions when you just needed to drift it that extra car length. The extra power was not overly useful in such an event though.

Monday - what a Monday. MX5 club track day at Lakeside. I was used to lots of steering input and full throttle from most apexes onward but wow what a transformed car. A lot more attention had to be paid to throttle control. Somewhere along the line I forgot it was a regularity and just kept going for better times and with a bit of incentive being Danny behind me on the last lap of the last run I set a best time of 1:05:xx with xx maybe being 31 from memory. Woooot!

The tune is bloody great and I don't know how I would improve it at this stage. The 1.6 is on full boost from 3000 onward - prob coming on from 1800 rpm onward. It's only a small turbo. What a buzz. I have a hell of a lot to learn about the MS, fueling , spark etc etc and would be keen to suss out the best way to do datalogging for events such as today - ideally without a laptop in the car. I did read about the Innovate DL-32 product ( http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/dl_32.php ) but that's a pretty pricey option for a weekend warrior vehicle.

Anyway - I'm over the moon with the tune and the ECU and the rest of the new kit. No heating issues obvious at this stage either. Everyone should have boost and MSPNP! I'm going to make time in the next week to study the tune settings.

C ya out there!

How on earth did I forget that my dad used to work in a place assembling stereos before he became a dental technician, I told him about the MS today and he said that as long as I can provide diagrams showing what goes where it should be no problem.

Next problem is..... I don't quite understand how/if mine needs to be put together differently than the diagrams on the megamanual site. I know that one of the ways that the MS is configurable for different cars/engines/sensors is that some components can be moved to different spots on the board and jumpers added.

Are there any diagrams floating around showing what needs to be changed for a MS-1 running a turbo BP?
