Get Bridgestone Re001, probably the best bang for buck street tyre.

How much are u getting quoted for 205/45/r16, also Bridgstone re001 in 205/45 and 205/50 aren't Australian made, so you won't have the problems which are faced by some other people.

Is it because it's low profile 45?

Why not run 205/50?

Sounds right for 16s as they are such an odd and not mass produced size

sliq wrote:has anyone here used Maxxis MA-V's? my local bob jane bloke said they are excellent value, but after reading a few reviews, they have a helluva road noise

i bought some secondhand wheels with MA-V1s and lets just say i'll look for something else when the time comes to change... road noise is awful! i dont really push my car around corners all that much but the grip in the dry has been sufficient, in fairly wet conditions i can swing the rear out which is fun :)

This one is a little late from me, but that's because I hardly been driving my 5.

Type - Pirelli Dragons
Size - 195 / 50 / 15
Price - $150 corner, fitted and balanced.
Dry grip - 3.5/5
Wet grip - 2/5 (being generous...)
Tyre life - 3/5

They're quiet on the road and they grip decently in the dry, but so far i'm not impressed with their wet performance at all. In fact i'm sh*t scared to drive around corners at anything over 30km/hr in the wet, because the back end just lets go.
They're not a predictable tyre when they let go, and reining it back in is a mission.
In short you can't go as fast around corners as on Aussie Adrenalins ( :? ), and they let go much sooner.

I am buying some rims which are 15x6.5 ... Just wondering for 6.5" rims, is the 195 option the way to go? I got quoted $150 for RE001s in 195/50/15, that's what most people seem to have...

yes 195/50 is fine.

Try and see if you can get them down to $130.
