Seat retrimming

A mate got similar set of these for his Prelude a while back. They reccomended to get a trimmer to fit them too but we knocked it out with ease.

Give it a shot yourself I say

It's not that hard to do, just needs a bit of time and patience. The second seat will probably take you half the time of the first one. Using cable ties instead of the metal rings makes life a lot easier and you should use the same fastening points that the factory covers used.

sweet cheers! did you do a set Garry? how long did it take you?

i got the zipper fixed on one of the covers this morning. Was talking to the guy and he said that most of the MAzda dealers in Sydney sent the cars to him for dealer optioned leather.
im looking forwared to putting them on..now just got to find some time

No, I fitted seat warmers which required 80% of the seat covers to be removed so I could fit the heating pads. I cant remember how long it took, it was a long time ago but I did manage to fit the pads to both seats while watching a V8 supercar race meet on tele one rainy Sunday afternoon. So how long do they go for? 3 hours or so? That excluded removing the seats from the car and carrying them inside. I do know that the second seat was a lot faster than the first. Another pair of seats would have been even faster still.

well the passenger seat is in..prolly took just over a hour to do. Man those C clips can be a bastard. love the cable tie idea though.

im rather happy with the quality and how they turned out. they are super comfy also with the extra layer of padding on the inside.

I seem to recall that they are called hog rings(?) and they are fixed with a plier like crimping tool. I had some kicking around my garage and now lost to some dark corner. Cable ties are certainly more readily available and user friendly. For anyone just wanting to replace one cover the OE one has to be worth looking at- its replacement is the same technique.

well both seats are back in now. im rahter happy with them even though i had to get some stitches in my foot after tripping on a stray seat track.

Yeah it was rather painful. It was acually the locating pin just behind the fwd mount bolts that I stepped on. Oh well. The seats are good. I'll post up some pics tonight
