Can any one confirm the standard rim size for an NA8. diameter, width, and offset. Also, has anyone fit and 8" rim under an NA8's guards? Any handling problems that this introduces? Purely from a looks point of view these are great but I wonder if they'll fit......

8" will fit with guard rolling, 9" will also fit, but guards will need to be pulled and rolled. (this is assuming you are lowered)

NA8 rims are 14x6 +45

Those watanabes will fit, just depends on the amount of width and offset, will determine the amount of work needed to fit. Either rolling, plastic trimmings removed, pulling, amount of camber etc

I'm thinking 8" rims need a 225 tyre and that sounds pretty big for an MX5. I'm guessing if it's over tyred a lot of the handling finese will be lost. Anyone care to comment on how wide can can go with the tyre before you start compromising the handling feel. I love the look of these rims, but I'd be concerned about going too wide for the sake of looks.

Tough looks versus performance..... :?

Edit, knowing now the orignal rim offsets, there is no way these rims will fit. Their offsets are 0 to -19 and we need roughly +35 on a 7" rim. The F8 type will fit but it aint got the dish and is not quite as cool.....but they fit.

What are the OEM tyre sizes?

i think they are 185/60. however I have 205 50 15's on my 8's and they fit perfect. they are toyo r1r's and are apparently a 'wide' tyre. I have also heard that the bf goodrich sports are pretty wide too - and good value. you will not need 225's to fit on 8's - 9's on the other hand you would. have a look on clubroadster. they have heaps and heaps of info on wheel and tyre fitment and what needs to be done to make what fit.

With low offset = dish, you won't get it with +35 and especially on a 7" rim.

15x8 +0 offset, run 195/50/r15, guard rolling and camber.

Or use 14x8 instead.

OR alternatively get flares.

Ooh, the red one is the look I love. Not so much the white one. I'll give up on the dish. Do you know the wheel specs on that? Is that your car? Also, the OEM tyre size? Got any ideas?

By my calcs going 8" with a zero offset moves the outside edge of the rim 70mm further out fomr OEM? Is this how you see it? Can that be done?

What size 14 or 15?

IMO 14x6.5+14.5 will look good, shown below.

8 inch wide rims on a NA are illegal aren't they? And widening the track too much with incorrect offset wheels is as well?
