Hey All, I've got a dealer-fitted Soy Headunit and Changer, and am looking to replace my head-unit ...
being as it is an MX5, and i dont want to be installing lots of speakers, i really only need a simple head unit
I'd love to keep the changer, as well as add MP3 and possibly Bluetooth capabilities, but there appears to be nothing in the sony range that suits me - they are al top-dollar as soon as you add the changer control ....
Is it possible to use my Changer with other head-unit brands ? i know the plugs are all different, but are there adaptors ?
simpler just to use an MP3 head unit amd forget the changer ?
Cheers all
J

If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour ... you're gonna see some serious s**t.

Yes. Get one with USB and/or iPod control. A 4Gb USB stick is dirt cheap and will hold a tonne of music (easier to change than a stacker too).

I would have to agree, if you're changing the head unit anyway just get one that does MP3 and has USB for memory sticks.
will work out cheaper, and has the bonus of being easier to install, and wont skip on bumps either.

A little more effort in spelling, punctuation and grammar will go a long way on this forum.

Personally I find the Sony product to be of lesser quality.
Have a look at the Pioneer range, I believe them to be the best in the world, with MP3 as standard, USB and Bluetooth options.
You could possibly try that, but personally I wouldn't touch Sony

I agree, I'm a fan of the Pioneer head units (I'm on my third), and MP3 Playback is an basic and cheap option these days, which is much easier to to use than CD's (even if it is a stacker)

Give this mob a try. I bought a RCA to Alpin AiNet converter from them a few years ago.

I have a Sony headunit in my car, with front aux in, and usb port. I have never once had a problem with it.
It a Sony CDX-GT460U, it dosn't stick out, and you can change the backlighting from red to green, to suit the MX5 interior.

Hey all, thanks for your help.
I bought this unit last night....
After searching, it appears to be quite a popular model with the MX brigade !
Still some tweaking to the mount needed, but i now have hands-free calling in the car and great sound !
Thanks Everyone
