or will they all take me well below 'sensible'? i'd want adjustable ride height, but not necessarily rock hard damping etc.

My height as is i would consider borderline "sensible", which has been achieved with superstreets.

if your wanting to go lower and get yourself into the slammed thread  , look into the following coilovers...

Vmaxx (no damping adjustablity, Made in Netherlands roughly $500-600US)
Stance (apparently a great coilover in the states, bad exchange rate makes them pricey though)
BC (32 way damping, very generous height adjustment, reasonable pricing)
D2 (36 way damping, also very generous height adjustment, reasonable pricing)
G4 (Same as D2, different colour)
K-Sport (Same as D2 and G4, different colour, all made in Taiwan)
Tein Flex (I'm sure you know about this one)
Tein MonoFlex (And this one)
CST (i dont know too much on, apparently go as low as the flex, ask Philz for more info)
JIC (considered the "Baller" coilover in the states, again dont know too much)
few more i cant remember atm

I've considered that, but I hear wildly varying reports on how much a rebuild and revalve costs... and then add the springs from FM...
Price wise do I stand to do substantially better?
(I'll get off my ass and get some quotes soon... )

Haven't you sold your superstreets MXHEVN?
by teh by... nice pics you have with LOE200...

for the price of the rebuild and fm springs, you could just get yourself a set of basics for that that little more, at least they are height adjustable.

they are sold, but i am waiting on my new coilover to arrive.
Which pics with LOE200?

Revalve quote from Quadrant was $154 each - Fulcrum is probably similar. The damping can be adjusted to your desires to suit whatever springs you get. Ted Looi can probably add something...

FM springs were going to be about US$400 shipped (cheapest shipping) but I got mine whilst in the US...

So you're probably talking about $1200 or so.

Thanks for that Matty,
Unfortunately with the exchange rate the way it is just the set of FM springs costs $410 AUD before they leave the US... :|

I'll have a snoop around and see what the sydney guys who offer in terms of rebuild/revalve...
I'm aware Heasman does it... anyone else?

Tein Basics will cost you $1000, and no need to wait. it's on ebay now.

Can the suspension experts out there confirm that apart from the damping adjustment (etc etc) they are essentially the same shock? :?:

Does anyone here have Tein Basics or know of anyone that does? Any feedbackor comments from experience?

Yes same shock as SS without the dampening adjustability.

Or damping adjustability. I prefer shocks that don't make me wet.

If you're getting Teins, factor in a spring swap or a sway bar rate change as well, they are nearly all heavily biased toward rear spring stiffness -> oversteer. Probably tolerable on the street, but potentially lethal on the track.

Yes the exchange rate on FM springs sucks, lucky I got mine whilst in the states - $24 shipping ftw :)

Alternatively you might be able to get K-Mac or someone to make up a custom set of springs for you in a similar rate though...

Heasemans would be the place for a Bilstein revalve. Ask the people who went to the tech night there (there is an old thread about it if you search).
