SS clutch line?

I plan to do clutch install over easter break, I would like ss clutch line they used to be sold at mx5 parts but no more.

I can get it made up like I got my ss break lines made up, but I have to take the line out so they can make it the same length and fittings etc (dont want to do this). Who has one? feel the difference? cost? where from? fittment issues?

I would not have thought it will make any difference to move from the standard set up. For brakes I have heard that rubber may swell when applied ie hydraulic pressure and steel will not. Whether this is discernible for a clutch is another thing and it costs money. Wt is not an issue.

I'm quite weak and feable and I'm not really a fan of a heavy clutch pedal.
But if ss lines give a more smooth shifting experiece I'm all for it.
(I noticed a more smooth shift after bleeding the clutch fluid)

I just want to try ss lines and see what happens.

A heavy clutch has to come from the clutch itself. A standard clutch will take less force to operate than a sports clutch which will have heavier springs in the pressure plate. A clutch specialist should be able to confirm if changing of lines has a force benefit. When I changed my clutch, albeit for normal driving, I was advised by MX5 Mania not to bother with the Exedy sports clutch as I too, really get tired of a heavy clutch.

I think the benefits of the ss line are that you get to get rid of the silly stock one which loops over the top of the firewall and back again, via a set of loops, making it easier to bleed and also getting it away from the extractor/turbo heat on the passenger side.

You could try mx5plus, I think they may have been getting some done at one point, can't remember if there was to be a few for stock or not?

yep the oem clutch line is damn silly, it snakes around all over the place. i guess they made it that way so they could use the same parts on left and right hand drive cars.

wun, i would think you could just visit your local brake store such as ABS or whoever, and get them to make a line up for you. i did a slight mod on my clutch line when i fitted the new slave and it cost me about $20 for them to mod the existing line, re-flange it and fit a new nut. i reckon if you plotted out your new, shorter path, decided on what fittings you need, they could custom make something for you. i can't see it being difficult or expensive.

wait before we do GB someone ask if its the same for both left and rite hand drive cars???

I dont want to fail like i did in the clutch master cylinder GB.

I sent them an e mail asking them for a 10% discount if we order 5 of them to Australia.

And I asked them if it fits both left and right hand drive cars.
