Who is the engine builder you went to, what was the price like and did he do a good job?

No Progress as yet, gotta wait for my next pay/k-rudd money next month to afford the parts.

As it is, its all neatly apart in the shed, bagged and labeled, with the block on a stand all shiny clean and coated with wd40 :D

After a drive in a quick turbo car im considering changing tack and going for a turbo ready motor, and getting perhaps one of the cheaper BEGi turbo kits or somesuch later on :>

Would the 805c cams go ok in a turbo motor if i could dial out some of the overlap with gears?

Here's one that hasn't been dusted by the cops Russ.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Pro_18T who is helping me build the motor/lending me a shed :>
Its a Proton Satria with a Lancer GSR motor in it, I think its good for 170kw or so? anyway, much fun..
Too laggy for my tastes though, would want to go for something small turbo-ish :>

http://www.bellengineering.net/product_ ... cts_id=395 Is this a good idea at all? or have i been smoking crack again :P
I know its a cheap shitty turbo, but im not made of money, so its either a cheap turbo or no turbo for me :>

(Note: I would get the intercooler and ditch the FPR solution for the wolf 3d, im not THAT stupid!)

Im getting more and more tempted to do this, build a decent motor with tough (ish) parts, but only 9:1 compression, put in the cams i have etc. and enjoy the power boost of some good cams.

Then later when i get some more cash, throw a turbo at it

Cost is always going to be a factor that you have to weigh up. We can't tell you how much you want something, nor how much you'd be willing to spend to achieve it.

Take my advice here with a grain of salt, but I really don't like the idea of spending money on an engine to have it blow up 6 months later. I'm more a fan of the "do it once, do it right" logic.
But by the same token, that logic tells me if I'm spending decent money on an NA engine, how much more is it going to cost me to go forced... I'm a big cost/benefit kinda person though

Guess it really comes back to the Fast/Reliable/cheap idea, you can only ever have two.
