Hi, I have a 94 clubman with 195 x 50 x 15 's on it. I undertsand the clubbies came with 14" rims std...........and I was thinking of getting a second set of rims for the track. Anyone have any views about whether i should try and get the original 14's or go with another set of 15's
Cheers

Semi slick tyres tend to be cheaper in 14 inch. I would go with the cheapest option. I've used Toyo Proxes RA1 in 14 inch and Toyo Proxes R888 in 15 inch. There was no benefit in using the 15 inch tyre, just more money spent.

It also depends on what class you're to trying to compete against.
If you would like to compete on "Class 1" (l.e. factory stock standard), then you'll need to get the same size wheels as the OEMs (14x5.5). But if you'd like to be in modified class....most people go for 15" wheels, mostly due to the cost of the tyres.

Thanks for the feedback - wasn't aware of the impact on classes - so 14's makes more sense all round

the oem clubman wheels are 14 x 6 iirc, the na6 wheels are 14 x 5.5 .
i use the clubman wheels as my track rims, with r888's. works fine for me. i had 15s previously, i haven't noticed any negatives in going down in size.

I have seen sets of 14x5.5 around, but not the Clubman 14x6........ are they easy to find / get?

I stand corrected. You're absolutely right. I don't know how I got this mixed up. I run a Clubman in Class 1 during track days, so I should know this to heart.

You don't have to get the factory NA8 wheels to be in class 1. So long as it's a 14x6, it will do. Though having said that the OEM 14x6 on the NA8 are very light.
