Hi guys, as the topic states, im considering a DIY top radiator hose on my nb8a.
it would consist of some silicone hose bends in 45/90 degrees, some stainless tube and appropriate sized (and quality) hose clamps.
is this a good idea or could the pressure/temp of my cooling system cause issues with my bright spark of ingunity???
cheers guys
Ben

mine's custom with rubber hose & stainless tube. no issues at all, provided you do up the hose clamps properly...

i was planning on using T-bolt clamps (at $11 each) meant to handle masive boost, so i think they will be quality enough to do up nice and tight.

I don't think the length is enough to warrant the effort and risk, twice as many clamps to leak and don't over tension the clamp and crack the radiator inlet.
I bought some SFS hoses years ago, they were much cheaper than OEM at the time.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

yes i'm wondering why you would bother, unless there is some other mods involved such as a coolant reroute that you didn't mention.

i was told you couldnt get silicone radiator hoses for the nb8a, thats what sparked my idea (and my mania enlarged intake sitting on my top hose).
where would i get these sfs silicone hoses from?? and roughly how much??

i also did it because of the mania enlarged intake. my intake was previously rubbing on both the top radiator hose and the underside of bonnet.
not sure where to get silicon hoses from (npower?), but as mentioned be careful of over tightening the clamp at the radiator if you have a plastic (stock) end tank.
