Which oil do people recommend to put in a Mazda Torsen 2 LSD?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

dave i recently had redline shockproof put into mine - it'll last the car the rest of its life.

it ought to be the same one people put in their gearboxes.

Methinks it should still be changed (not that often though).

pretty sure any GL4/GL5 gear oil is fine for the torsen. it doesn't require LSD specific oil because it's mechanical.
most gear oils are fine in both the gearbox and (mechanical) diff.

As Above, any gear oil should do, Lightweight Shock proof is good stuff, rated strength of a 75W140 without the heavy weight

The oil recommended by castrol is their EPX80W90, which is the same as the open centres. Only difference is the torsen takes only about a litre(tad under from memory) and the open more like 2ish.

Hi Dave,
I'm using Valvoline GL4 75/90 semi synthetic, in both diff and gearbox, on the clubby.

Definiately made a lot smoother shifting and diff runs nice and cool.

Beside that, I buy in bulk for my fleet of trucks so make the decision easy!!!

imo shockproof in the diff is overkill unless your car is putting some serious power to the ground.

sure it's the rolls royce of gear oils (in both performance AND price), but from all reports it doesn't last as long as a regular oil.
