Yeh, better say they're a good crowd......seeing I'm El Prezidentee :roll:

The run finishes out your way, well a little north at Wisemans but closer than some of us who live in the south.

Stock NC's alignment. Go to Wholesale Suspension at Penrith.
Sit in the car when it's being done.
Front:
Camber -1 degree
Castor 6.5 degrees
Toe 2mm total toe in
Rear:
Camber -1.2 degrees
Toe 3mm toe in total

Tyres, there's a special on Bridgestone Adrenelins at the moment at around $200 ea.
The best are Michelin Preceda PP2s at $305 ea.

Well El Prezidentee :D .......

I appreciate the help from you and i think i am getting closer now to a decision.
Due to having just forked out all my hard earned money on the car and a few other bits and bobs i really do need to watch my budget, and with me already having 2 yokohama's my only real options are 2 more yokohamas A Drive R1's or 4 new Kumho KU31's. (Will maybe splash out on the Michelins next time round)

Which would you choose out of the 2 options?

Oh and many many thanks for the info on the wheel alignment, i shall be getting in touch with these guys tomorrow. Anyone in particular from Wholesale Suspension?

Well hopefully see you on Sunday, but if not i will most certainly catch you guys very soon. :mrgreen:

Put the 2 Yokohama's on if the two you have still have plenty of meat and I'd expect that they would have give there's still the 2 original Precedas on the other end.
It's a far better tyre than the KU31.
PS check the tyre pressures are in the 29 - 31 region cold. You don't need to run anything higher.

Make sure that you get the wheel alignment done when you get your tyres fitted. It could make a difference.

Hi KRM and thanks for the welcome :D .

Its like a long lost family all this, everyone seems great.

So do i need to wear my L plates seen as i am new to the MX-5 posse? :lol:

Mate if i dont manage to get there for the run this time, i will certainly catch up with you guys very soon indeed.
I know i have got Coldplay tickets for the Saturday night and so it could be a long night!!! Will see though.

With regards to the wheels and tyres, i was planning to get the tyres fitted on monday, then Tuesday or Wednesday get the wheels alignment done. The garage that i am getting the tyres from dont have the wheel alignment gear, plus my now good El Precidento Charlie Brown friend recommended this Wholesale Suspension place and they do seem pretty good from what i have heard about them.

Am i ok to do it this way or would it be better doing it the other way round?

That's the way I'd have it done :)

A good suspension place is crucial for a good wheel alignment. Last year I took my car to get a wheel alignment done, 6 months later the rear passenger tyre was down to the steel right on the inside, in that time I did Wakefield twice, and drove my car to and from everywhere. This was caused due to excessive toe in on that wheel.

New tyres, new suspension place, new alignment. 5 months has passed, still dríven to work every day and everywhere else on the weekend. 3 times at Wakefield and once at Eastern Creek. Still have plenty of rubber :D

Kumho KU31s all the way. I have a set on my Astina currently. They have done 47,000km, 30 laps of queensland raceway, 6 runs at mt cottom, 9 motorkhanas, 6 runs on a gravel autocross track. They have great stability and perform awesome in the wet. Silicia based so grip better than most other tyres. I'm happy with them. They are a 215/35R18 that only started with 7mm tread, so pretty good tyre wear I think.

Yes get your alignment done asap after the fitting of the new tyres and check that the person doing the job understands what is required to do a 4 wheel alignment.

As for snowboarding, not enough speed :P I have been skiing since the late 60's. :lol: :shock:

Snowboarding is for girls. It's easy to pick up, easy to get good at and the equipment is more comfortable.

Skiing is much more challenging and rewarding. Real men are pricks on sticks; not gays on trays... :roll: :oops: :o :twisted: :mrgreen: :lol:

Long story short, my first car was a R31 Skyline wagon and so started my obsession. The reasons why I am here can be put down to a member called -alex, and that the MX-5 crowd are generally more track orientated than your usual "slam it, tint it, add a set of chromies and make it dose" Skyline crowd.

I like MX-5s, but I don't see myself in one. I think they are best for making me push harder to keep up :)
