Hunter Dodgy Detail Day
For those who like get their MX-5 looking better as well as have a yarn with their bonnet and boot up - We’d like to host a Hunter “Dodgy Day”.

Held on Sunday 8th March starting at 1pm at our place – it will be a chance to exchange hints and tricks to detail and clean up you car. pm me for the address if you dont know where we live or did not get the Hunter email.

I don’t intend people to do any big mechanical work or servicing – that can be another Dodgy Occasion.
I have parking for about 12 cars.
We will finish with a BBQ and watch the sunset with a drink afterwards.

Please BYO food, drinks and detailing gear. There will be a hose and vacuum cleaner available.
Of course it will be subject to weather – but that will not stop us having a BBQ at about 6.30 pm.

I'm new to detailing of cars, what sort of stuff would I need?

xatz,
A question you will get a 100 different answers to, mine is, if your car is shinny then a light cutting polish, wax are all you need. For the plastic bits a cleaner and protectant for the dash. A chamois sponge and bucket oh! some of those old nappies and towels. Plastic type chamois are a lot better than genuine. Below is what I use BUT the leading brands also have good quality products, I have yet to see a glaring difference in result from using brand "X" over "M". I started using RE-PO polish since 1975 to polish plastics molding and has no silicone in it. I have tried other brand but I like this one. As for the rest I buy quality brands on special don't get caught up with all the hype, buying what’s on special you get to try them all!

Great reply Ted
Thats what the day is all about - trying different things.

My NA dash surface went soft - I have been told it was due to 20 yrs of Silicon "Protectant" so I have been shying away from those proucts especially on my new instrument panel housing. My dash has been painted but the surface is still soft and easily marked.

I mainly use Autoglym products - as my neighbour was one of the original importers ( and won many Jaguar National concorses) He has given me a range of the products but I have lots of others collected over the years to try.

Looking forward to the exchange of ideas!!
