I'm also going to use this extra weight as an excuse as to why my times didn't improve at Wakefield with them in instead of the stock seats :P

I'm not sure if AB7 measured the seat itself without the rails, the seat itself might be ~10 kg

I weighed an NB8B passenger seat today.
The seat with the 4 bolts that hold the seat down and the stock rails weigh a total of 14.4445 kg

On a conservative estimate, if you remove the passenger seat and install a fixed back sports bucket seat onto stock rails you can potentialy remove ~20 kg off the car.

I have read for those who can't afford a lightweight aftermarket seat, you can strip a stock seat and remove a decent amout of weight.

Im not sure how heavy the drive's seat is but I assume its around the same.

The emphasis seems to be weight. The Mazda engineers are going to be nigh on impossible to beat insofar as the seats purpose is concerned. For a passenger car ( not a race car) it is a combination of support and comfort. Ask any owner of older sports cars ( the guys who cannot stand up straight) if comfort is an issue. An uncomfortable seat can do you an injury or make driving the car a misery. So you save a few kgs it is here nor there for a daily driver. A mate of mine has a very nice Healey - a big dollar car and he really likes his MX5 seats.

Yep, I weighed the seats only, its around 10.6 KG. The rails is quite heavy, in fact any metal sliding rails is heavy. Best bet if you want to really save weight is to get fixed base in CF.

Agreed metal rails will always make it weigh more.

My fixed bucket WITH super low rails, weighs 8kg.

The seat probably weighs ~5kgs and can be picked up with one finger.

Dont get me wrong I like comfort and suport, I belive it helps you to perform better on the track/road.
I have sat in some of the fixed back seats they were suprisingly comfortable.
I like the fact you can't slouch and put the seat back, so you are forced to sit in the correct driving position.

My stock NB8A rails weighed approximately 7.8kgs, FYI.
