Prestige hoods wont get back to me! help.

Postby crzymx » Mon Feb 16, 2009 11:55 pm

Guys these people wont get back to me, i was about to buy a hood when i noticed that they are only for na's.

Am i missing something, not looking properly? Do they make them for the nb upon request?

Decided to go for black stayfast as i cant be bothered wasting a 15 dollar bottle of 303 aerospace everytime i clean the car and want to shine the hood.

deal locally and you will not have these issues. Don't they have faxes or phones? You also do not need to use a soft top application everytime you clean your car.

Yeah i mean to keep it shiney (vinyl), stayfast seems like it requires a lot less maintnence.. Locally i have quotes at 2000+, im not interested in that price.

UPDATE: Its all good they got back to me after two weeks, they do the mk2 through their website, i dont know why not ebay though

Your choice Crazymx. I thought the vinyl top was no more than $1000. A vinyl top has a life ,ignoring vandals, of at least 10 yrs if it is garaged. Vinyl really is a robust product provided it is the right weight of material. More "aesthetic" materials probably offer no functional advantage.

Hrm, i dont want to get into the whole debate of things as it has been covered several times however as far as i was aware, stayfast material was more resilient with sun, overall weather condition not to mention better at insulation with not only temperature but noise aswell.

What i meant by applying protectants was a more aesthetic bother as i find vinyl goes dull, and it requires something to bring back its shine, whereas stayfast has the nice sophisticated matte finish which looks good dull. Do i make sense?

Besides, my car is not garaged, and if you see the condition of mine after 9 years its scary. You can scrape away the fabric from underneath with your fingernails its that badly damaged from the sun.

I might do a bit of calling tommorow, see if i can find someone who will do it for under 1k. Maybe there are more places.

Not being able to garage your car certainly is a big disadvantage. UV in particular takes a heavy toll. In your situation treating a vinyl top will be required more often but that would pay dividends in extending life. It might be worth talking to some trimmers to get some opinions on vinyl versus other materials as life versus cost is a factor. If you have off street parking a car cover is also well worth considering.

Does the price you are quoting include fitting, or is that just for the hood only?

crzymx, i will get off my lazy butt and take a photo of my cockpit car cover. it only covers the windscreen, roof , back window and side windows. I.E. it comes down to the waist line. It is held on by straps that hook onto your wheels. It is designed to keep the sun off the roof and out of the interior, but won't damage your paint. I will take some photos tomorrow and post them.
