Inspired by everyone elses entries, here are a couple we have/had.

Current one is a 99 10AE. Pretty much std except for exhaust (own design), intake (made by lowmiata to my specs) and suspension (revalved, shortened OEM Bilsteins with Eibach springs). Its done over 150Kkms now, and keeps going strong

Next one is my old car. Its not a car that I have ever posted pictures of, but its about time to. Started life as a 90 BRG (183/300), before it was chucked into competition in 98. Mods include head clean, remapped ecu, exhaust, intake, clutch, lsd, suspension, brakes, custom rollbar and underbody protection and bracing, modified seats for harnesses

Both look like great cars, one for the road and one for the track 8)

Nice cars Ted. So Grand Prix Mazda does exist! The only evidence of my Malibu's origin is an air cond installation sticker before delivery showing Grand Prix's name. I bought it in Sydney and could'nt find them there - might now follow this up and track down the previous owner (presumably someone in Brissy).

Max - interestingly I haven't been into this section for ages, but looked today. Names on mirrors are great! No commentators get it wrong, and there ain't much space for full names on the side of the car. We also used to change the slogan on the bootlid, like "Are we there yet?" and "Woof, Woof Woof"... How is your bus going?

Hammer - Greatest fun I have had in a long time. Its very different these days though, everyone shows up with service crews and the like. We preferred to do our own lack of servicing by having a reliable car. And I pretty much try to get LEs where I can. My previous car was a TypeR that was numbered, but my current 6MPS is purely limited by the lack of numbers sold :). I am looking for an RX8 at the moment, and looking for a LE (Revelation or 40th anniv).

Dingmaz - Sad for the poor professional photographers as the top two shots of the 10AE are by me. Though the topic was probably a lot more photogenic than the BRG

trader - sure does exist. Not that many malibus around, and one less as one of the Grand Prix sold cars was barbecued in Canberra quite a number of years ago.

What is even sadder is that in the last year, the 10AE has done something like 1500km. And I always thought it would get replaced by the 20AE.

The family transport is actually now got a purpose! We had a daughter 3 weeks ago. :)

It's got a towbar for towing the dogs in a trailer and now sports an ISOFIX baby capsule. Other than that I'm on to my 3rd set of RT615s and I've got some Ferodo DS2000s in. Dusty mofos but the Liberty desperately needed better pads.

I spend as much time as I can in the MX-5, though. ;)

Congrats matey, it has been a while since we chatted obviously. My little one was six months old yesterday. Isofix is the only way to go for us too, she is just about to outgrow her MaxiCosi and I am half way through the process of ordering a new recaro seat for her. Its a pity the MX5 has no isofix mountings, I noted that the Audi S5 has them on the front passenger seat. Hope your journey into fatherhood is as good as mine

Its been ages, and I don't really got on this forum much these days, but I do get some value out of it so figured I should update this.

2016 marks 21 years since my first MX5, though there was a hiatus of 5 yrs when we didn't own an MX5. But since late 2014, this car has been taking up space in the garage.

Image

Its a 2003 Classic (Yes, yet another limited edition). Its a car I have known since new, and one that I had the chance then to turn into my ideal road MX5 which saw the occasional track day. It was also the test car for Fulcrum's Tein intro for MX5s. So when its owner moved on to his next car 18 months ago (after covering 212Kkms in this), I jumped at the chance to drive it for a while. Of course, like most MX5s, it has stayed with us much longer than I thought it would and may stay as long as I don't need to fill its spot with something else. Mods to it are:
- Tein SS suspension with EDFC
- Extractors and exhaust (from Custom Exhaust)
- Rollbar (from Weldwell Engineering)
- DBA rotors, Project Mu pads
- Torsen LSD
- re-covered and stitched steering wheel, rebolstered seats (from Lee Brothers)
- aftermarket stereo and speakers

It is an example of a car that was bought new, modified lightly, dríven within its abilities and dealer serviced as per manufacturer schedule. It is still the same fun car it was 13yrs ago, and has loss none of its vigour.

Image

My 7yo daughter has decided that this can be her first car, so it now has her identity to it. But as she informs me, plates can be moved if I get her favourite car next.

And with this car, marks a total Mazda garage for the first time since we built it.
