Jeo, where did you mount your 8" Sub, does it still sound good with the roof off?

Flush mounted on the rear parcel shelf, fibreglass box below.
Sounds fine roof up or down.
I had an Alpine 12" in the boot before I went to this but it was far too boomey.
It won't win you any sound offs, nor will it impress any of your sex spec mates, but for daily driving I can highly recommend it.

If you are short of space, there are 2 tunnels, one on either side of the fuel tank, that run betweenthe boot and the interior of the car.
With some squeezing, you may be able to put the amp in there.
Failing that, buy a smaller amp that will fit in the tunnels.

Sorry to steal your thread here Kain, but I'm going to anyway
No I didn't install it myself. I've never done any fibre glassing before and while I am keen to try, this looked like it may not have been the best job to start on.
The box extends down in to the tunnels that Benny just mentioned, so there is more than enough internal volume for a sealed box.
I've contemplated adding another on the other side in the opposite tunnel, but I'm not sure if its worth it/if I could be bothered.
I always told myself I'd have a go at making the second one if I ever go that route.

Sorry if we're going off topic but you can also fit 2 8" speakers in the shelf of the NB if you're tricky.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Haha, I'm not strssed about going off-topic I've heard a few different options to consider, and it's always good to see other people's setups. I love that sub install of yours Jeo, looks very clean. I assume it's not too annoying having it pretty much behind your head?
Anway, I had another look under the seat, and I've got about as much chance of fitting the amp under there as a snowball's got in hell. I peeled back the carpet behind the seat and checked out the observation holes in the panel. It looks like there's about 2cm of clearance between the panel and whatever's behind it, probably the fuel tank. If I'm careful it shouldn't be too hard a job, I'll just have to use short screws.

JL 300/4 on the wall behind the passenger seat right down the bottom near the floor, rear channels bridged to power the Alpine 10" in a custom FG enclosure in the boot. Front channels power the 6.5" Boston Pro's in the front doors.

It's fine. You couldn't tell it was there just by listening to it.
I'm really proud of how well my sound stage actually turned out. Just by using the stock mounting locations for the front splits, putting the sub in the not so stock location and a little tuning, turned out really nice. Music sounds like its coming from about dash level, right in front of you.

Stunning photos as usual, do you find the sound travels well from the boot to the cabin?
I know some setups use speaker grill cloth hiding holes cut to let the sound travel down each side of the fuel tank and have a similar setup for the sound to travel into the cabin.

Thanks Okibi
The sounds travels very well, nice tight bass even on freeway speeds with the roof down.
One thing I have noticed is that the amount of bass is proportionate to the amount of items in the boot. It would seem that it uses the boot space as a secondary box of sorts to amplify the low frequencies produced by the sub, so filling the boot up reduces the internal volume of the boot as a secondary chamber.
Empty boot -> Most noticeable amount of bass from in cabin.

Excuse if this didnt work correctly, this is my first attempt at a picture post on this forum. =)
interesting, I am trying to figure out how to get a sub into the cabin if possible without any cutting.
Btw i like to look of that pc set up, mind sending me a pm with the specs? I have thought about making one up for my car, but not really sure how to go about it

specs are:
8inch touch screen $150 off ebay
P4 2.4ghz 2gb ram 260gb hdd $350 off ebay
12v > laptop power supply $20 from Jaycar
USB Volume knob $50 off ebay
2 sets of 2 6inch 3 way sony xplod speakers $30 each at JB hifi
12inch Sony Xplod sub $50 at JB Hifi
Speakerbox $30 at JB Hifi
Amp $30 at JB Hifi (Cant remember the brand)
+ about 12 hours of installation and making it work
+ about a month of programming in my own time for the interface $$$ who knows ;)
I was using iTunes in there before but it was too annoying to use with a touch screen while driving.
Totalling about $740 + a lot of time and effort for everything.
It will be a hell of a lot easier if I ever have to do this a second time. (won't have to write any software either )
I'll get some proper pics together of everything if people are interested once I get it back from being resprayed.

Well, to put this back on topic momentarily, I put the amp in earlier tonight. We drilled some small holes where we were planning on screwing the amp to the wall behind the passenger seat, and found about 2 to 3cm of clearance, plenty for a self-tapping screw. I did find that if I wanted to put the amp any higher, I would probably have run into the petrol tank. I'll probably put pics up at some point, for other people's reference if they're having the same issue.
On another note, the idea of a car-pc in the 5 sounds pretty awesome, get some picks up if you can Ebola!
