Factory leather interior in 8B/8C - is it just seats, or....

A quick question that I haven't been able to find out the answer to myself.

In 8Bs and 8Cs with stock leather interior, is the leather just the seats, or the seats and doorcards, or the seats + doorcards + console + underdash etc. etc. ?

i'll take a stab in the dark. but using the SE as a basis, i'd say its only the seats, and gear shift boot and hand brake boot.

The few cars that actually came with factory leather seats only had leather on the part of the seats that you sit on. The rear part of the seat is vinyl. I would suggest that most leather in NB's is aftermarket and therefore full leather seats and the package usually included the seats, a patch on the door card and the gear stick surround.

Most NB8B/8C with leather in Melbourne was done by Blackman. Apart from the seats & doorcards, They even let you option different colour steering wheel leather, tweeter cover & door handle.

Agreed. A lot of them were done at the dealership (ie.aftermarket), so expect variation. Lots of dealerships do that with their new cars.

I have never seen an 5 with leather dash (apart from Autosalon guys).

I think my camel seats are all leather covered. I know they have suede leather patches on the backs where they could rub on the parcel shelf if pushed right back . Will take a closer look tomorrow and get back. steering wheel ,hand brake and steering wheel all leather covered.

My NB8C Limited edition has full leather seats, leather boss on the gearshift and I think the handbrake as well as leather inserts in the door trims

Sorry greyhair, your Classic as per the one I had, only has leather facing to the seats.
Sides and back ar vinyl, as are the door panels. The hand brake, gear knob and wheel are leather.

If you look at any model Mazda from the factory (3, 6, RX-8, etc) ALL only have leather facing to the seats.
