How to bring extra set of rims for Track day
Hi there, this can be a noob question. I am just wondering if people have a extra set of rims for the track day, let say a set of 15" with full slick. How do they bring them to the track day in one car without using trailer? is it possible to fit in the car?(talking NB here)
has someone here done it before? any suggestion? how do people do it?

I would remove your spare wheel and put one in the boot then you should be able to fit the other three where the passanger seat was that you will need to remove.

Sorry there's just no way to fit a set of 4 rims & tyres in an MX-5.
I run R-Spec DOT tyres and drive on them to and from the track, others do likewise or bring a trailer or another car for transporting them.

I stand corrected CB, i saw manga_blue do this at winton.
One in the boot, one behind the passenger seat and two on the passenger seat with tread facing dash, these were 15x7 iirc. they had slicks as well

.
yes as cheyne said, it it possible, i've done it myself. . manga blue has been doing it this way for ages now, so it works for NA's at least, i assume it would work for NB's, not sure about NC's.

- 2 go on the passenger seat, in line with the car
- 1 goes behind the passenger seat
- 1 goes in the boot.
The process is:
0. If you need to carry things like a helmet or food, etc in the front then put it on the floor in front of the passenger seat now.
1. Slide passenger seat back about half way, and recline the seat back a bit more than usual
2. Put a towel or something on the seat to protect it.
3. Put in the first 2 wheels side by side on the passenger seat and wrap the towel around them the rest of the way.
4. Slide the seat forward as far as you can and then straighten up the back rest as far as you can to lock them in
5. Open the centre arm rest lid (otherwise the next wheel jams it shut)
6. Slide the 3rd wheel down behind the seat (it just fits), making sure you keep the seat belt clear. Take care not to drag the rear carpets down at the same time, otherwise you'll tear them or pull out their plastic holders.
7. Run the seat belt through the spokes of the first 2 wheels and buckle them in.
8. Remove space saver from the boot and put the 4th wheel where it was (it also just fits)

If you have the loop style/roll bars rope one behind each of those, one in the boot, one on the passenger seat.
Bonus points awarded if you cable tie them to the bars.

Just hope it doesn't rain.
Someone should take a pix of this next time someone does it. It'll be an interesting photo, me thinks.

would work, but rims are a fair bit heavier than a bike, and might bend it.
what about the bootlid luggage racks? you could easily strap 1-2 wheels onto one of them.
maybe even 3 would fit?

ugly yes.
but also removable (clips onto the edges I beleive)
clip it on in the morning, attach wheels, drive to track, unclip at track.
just leave it in the shed 90% of the time until you need to carry wheels.
