Does anyone have any experience with the TDR heat shield?

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with these? experiences/recommendations/options
Two specific questions... What's the fit like? and How do they attach?

I think my extractors are cooking my heater hoses... and this heat wave isn't helping one bit
I've explored ceramic coating but it puts my car out of action for too long...
getting the extractors removed...
getting them coated...
getting them installed again...
that and most places that do it are miles away from where I live... unfortunately it's more downtime than I can manage

Sorry, no experience with the TDR heat shield. Another alternative if you're looking for a cheaper option is to grab a sheet of ACL heatshield and do it yourself. I think i paid about $45 at Repco to make my turbo heatshield.

$160 for THAT?! Go the ACL one as GS stated, easy to cut and shape. NMX516 did one himself. or you can just buy thermal sleeves for the hoses.

i was reading up on this about 2 months ago and the general consensus was it's a good quality product.

there is a flaw with its design though - the shield comes in direct contact with the headers, and the vibration of the headers will eventually wear the inside layer of the foil jacket. there was a customer in the states who said the fibre inside the jacket then caused damage to their headers.

I've used the ACL heat shield and it's great, very easy to work with, two sheets of steel with a ceramic layer between them, coated in aluminium. I have also used TDR products before and found them to be of very high quality. Both would work well.

So you can get ACL stuff over the counter at auto parts stores?
I'll have a squizz in the track dog installation for some mounting tips...

But if anyones already gone down this route could you share some photos/tips?

Repco, there are two sizes affordable and large ($140) but you could make 4 heat shields from the large and 1.5 from the small, go to the ACL web site for measurements.

Like this? It mounts on 2 of two of the studs that hold the extractors on and the large one under the O2 sensor.

Butt-dyno doesn't measure a difference, but as for the material itself, it is the coolest (temperature-wise of course) metal component in the engine-bay after a hot drive.

I took a gander at the one in NMX516's car one day after he went for a buzz down to the shops at a dodgy-day, and it was mildly warm.

So whatever the material is exactly made of, and whatever it's internal structure is, it works brilliantly at both reflecting and dissipating heat.
