NA8 door lock

Postby 1blue5 » Sat Jan 31, 2009 3:17 pm

I know this has been a topic before, I have read and re-read the info offered. My left hand door wont unlock with the remote or by the internal latch. The locking button itself moves slightly when i use the remote, but still wont unlock the door. The only way to get in or out is with the key in the lock, using the door handle at the same time.
I took the door card off and removed the plastic, and it appears all the rods move when I look into the door cavity and slide the latch and outside door handle, however it still wont budge or unlock. No springs appear loose or had fallen to the bottom of the door, so I am at a complete and utter loss!. Does anybody have a suggestion or has fixed such a problem?, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I had something similar happen to my drivers door and my problem was the small spring had broken. Pretty sure there is a thread in this forum that includes a couple of pictures of the mechanism and where the spring is located. The spring is only about 20mm long from memory. I fabbed one up out of a longer spring cut and bent to length.

Good luck.

Do a search regarding door springs, there's been some great and very helpful posts.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Thanks guys for the info, appreciate it heaps. I think this weekend I will have another look. After last weekend in the sweltering heat, I may have missed something, what I didnt miss was the sunburn though!. Will also do a search on springs. The weird thing about my mysterious door issue is that all the springs ( I could only see one from memory) were in place and working...I will battle on. Will let you know if Im able to resolve it. Cheers
