Removal of airbags would mean an instant canary and be incredibly stupid. Removal of a primary safety device is not recommended.

Airbags are primary safety devices? ... and seatbelts are....?

/irony mode off

FYI, seatbelts are the primary safety devices for cars sold in Australia. That may not be the case everywhere (hint: the good ol US of A), but it is here.

Airbags are (important) secondary safety devices to supplement the role of seatbelts, but lets keep our facts clear.

On a personal note, there is no way I would drive a car without seatbelts, but lack of airbags would not trouble me greatly. The GM has both, but the new racecar will not have a bag - ok, its a racecar you say, but the shunts are still subject to the same laws of physics.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)
