Hi,
Believe me when I say I've searched this topic and couldn't find a perfect thread to revive.
I'm just after some info on the KYB AGX's dampers that I am thinking of running with my NA8 on standard springs.
1. Are they different between NA6 and NA8? If so, how so?
2. Are they a mono or twin-tube damper?
3. Are the rebuildable? Or a sealed unit?
4. What kind of damping increase/decrease can I get out of the 8 clicks of adjustment?
5. Anyone happen to know how the adjustment method (specific to the KYB AGX's) works inside the damper?
Thanks in advance

i very much doubt it
2. Are they a mono or twin-tube damper?
mono
3. Are the rebuildable? Or a sealed unit?
sealed, non rebuildable
4. What kind of damping increase/decrease can I get out of the 8 clicks of adjustment?
i had nb kyb's which only have 4 levels of adjustment, 1 was stock, and 4 was stiff, still not stiff enough for my liking, and neither are my superstreets
5. Anyone happen to know how the adjustment method (specific to the KYB AGX's) works inside the damper?
no idea.

Are you sure they're mono??
Looking at the cutaway picture on the website it appears to be twin...

Hi My research showed that 2std, 3 +7.5%, 4 + 15%, 6 + 72%, 7 + 98%, 8+ 123%. The NA6 and NA8 are the same Pt NO. If you buy a set becareful with the threads as they are easily stuffed. I have a set and they are good.
Hope this helps

I've had a set on my NA for twelve months now and am very happy with them, I set them to 4 around town and 6 on a run thru the hills.

Why didn't I buy one years ago?

i have the KYB AGX 4 way adjustable, set on 1 for around town and 4 for hard running, there is a big difference between the 4 settings, I am more than happy with my decision . Mated with king lows they are a good combination. remember that spring choice is just as important as damper choice.

I have a set on my NA with voightland springs. Standard is 2 on the scale. I run 3 front and 2 back for street running.
Track days I did run 7 front and 5 back with std roll bars but I have installed a stiffer roll bar at the front and now run 7 front and 6 rear.
The shocks are over 1 year old and have done 4 track days and show no drop off in performance.

Hey guys,
In my infinite stubbornness I decided to email KYB.
They said they were:
'Twin-tube, because of the design for limiting or increasing flow
making the damping rate changes.'
I think you may have it confused with some of the other mono tube products they have in their range.
Also the damping adjustment range was
Setting#:
Relative Value
1 - Same as Factory 100
2 - Same as our GR2 products (10~15% firmer than Factory) 115
3 - 50% firmer than #2 172
4 - 30% firmer than #3 223
For an eight position adjustable product, the damping force values are
approx.
the following:
With #2 being Factory at a relative value of 100,
#1 = 95 (5% softer than Factory #5 = 143.5 (43.5% firmer than Factory)
#2 = 100 (Factory damping force) #6 = 172 (72% firmer than Factory)
#3 = 107.5 (7.5% firmer than Factory) #7 = 197.5 (97.5 firmer than Factory)
#4 = 115 (15% firmer than Factory)(GR-2) #8 = 223 (123 % firmer than Factory)
Hm... abit of a shame to hear about your dampers dropping off in performance KRM. Is it dramatic? Can it simply be adjusted out?
Thanks again

I have corrected my typing.
The shocks are good and have had NO drop off in performance.
