Nice work, wish I had a hoist
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Well the JR M45, Megsquirt PNP, Innovate LC-1, KnocksenseMS and ARE radiator install got underway today in extreme climatic conditions...those of you from Brisbane will know what I mean.
With the MS I'm ditching the factory AFM and going with the MS MAP and air temp sensors. For ease I positioned the air temp sensor in the dummy throttle body.
Hole drilled for the tapped boss to be welded in.
Tapped boss in position.
Engine bay prior to diassembly...
Removal of the radiator...
Removal of the throttle body...
Installation of the dummy throttle body and replacement of the aluminium pulley with the original item to ensure that the supercharger is dríven at the required speed. If anyone wants the aluminium pulley just PM me...$30 plus postage.
Installation of the belt tensioner assembly...this is another unit...not the standard JR offering...it replaces the standard power steering tensioner assembly.
This is the extension loom for the throttle position sensor...as the throttle body is relocated upstream of the supercharger.
The throttle body mounted on the supercharger.
As far as the mechanical installation is concerned, there is not a whole lot left to do....however I do need to make a heat shield of some description to go between the supercharger and the extractors. I continued on and completed the mechanical install just to be sure I had everything. Here is what it looks like. The factory AFM is only there as an adaptor to get the engine going...will need to make a tube to replace it.
As you can see I haven't attacked much of the electrical work....that is what the remainder of the Australia Day long weekend is for.
Obviously the radiator has to go back in as well...this will be the first job of the morning.
Cheers,
Danny
ps. I hope tomorrow is not 33 deg with a humidity of over 90%

Think you might have to put up with the heat again, Richo was sweating and not looking the best when I saw him today 33 degrees and battling a wog ain't much fun.
If its any consolation I will be sweating installing that torque box roll bar I bought off him
Looking forward to seeing this beast running, it will be excellent to finally see a supercharger mx5 in the flesh.
Incidentally are you going to do a coolant reroute? After speaking to Richard and doing some research on temp testing it seems it would be a worthwhile mod especially in giving a more even temp range across all the cylinders.

Danny - it's lookin great! I'm green with envy of all that power.
Can certainly empathise re working yesterday - I installed the new clutch and lightened flywheel. A real bugger of a job when you are doing it on short stands, wearing glasses & sweating like a pig, in a small shed!

yes but that doesn't actually address your initial comment about the intercooler.
danny is there going to be a ARE water to air intercooler fitted, to replace that standard cross pipe?
it's looking really nice so far

Fantastic Danny - can't wait to read & see more about the install & development - I think the M45 is underestimated, although admittedly it requires going the extra mile & has a lower potential ceiling than the MP62.

I am pretty sure danny designed/co designed the pwr water to air intercoolers. I would think he would be doing his own version specific to this car.
98 evo gold - rotrexed and loving it.

PWR's opposition actually James ... I've done a fair bit of R & D for Aluminium Radiators and Engineering (ARE) at Brendale in Brisbane... hence you see a lot of their handy work on my vehicles...especially the 626. I'll talk more about the IC plans for this car a bit further down the track. The main focus at the moment is to get it up and running so I can make it to the first club track day of the year in early March.
Cheers,
Danny
