Anyone got Recaro recliner in their NB?

Postby AB7 » Mon Jan 12, 2009 9:12 am

Hi guys, I just bought Recaro Recliner for my car. Just wondering if I can modify the standard NB rail to fit them in (like Sparco Sprint). Haven't got a chance to have a look at the seat yet.

I sold the seat. Its too big and sits too high for MX5.

No probs, I should have done more research before I bought it.

Anyway you'll be surprised how light NB8B seats, they are just over 10KG each. Most Recaro & sport recliners out there is around 15KG mark, you'll find it hard to get a recliner around 10KG mark unless it uses CF/ Keflar backing, then again it wont be lighter than your OEM.

Most aftermarket recliners are heavier than OEM. I remember being blown away by the difference between the stock seats in my old CRX and the carbon fibre Drift seats I replaced them with.

Even Bride Gias is 12kg.

I'll stick with non recliner, fixed buckets.

Yep, even top of the line Bride recliner is still heavier.
The more I looked into it, the more Im convinced that I should stick with my current seats, unless Im after fixed bucket seats.

Sparco Sprint is always a good option for fixed bucket seats at 7-8KG mark, and Velo...but the shoulder wing is too wide for MX5.

Although I can't test it, I'm fairly sure my Mazdaspeed seats are lighter than my NB8A seats. They sure seemed easier to pick up.

Should've weighed them both when I was putting them in...

Actually Mazdaspeed seats are heavier. Someone weigh them in CR forum and they weigh around 14KG.

I know for sure NB8B seats are around 10KG, I assumed NB8A probably be around the same weight.

Fair enough. Must've just been the extra grip I got on it because of all the wing bits etc :P

I'm also going to use this extra weight as an excuse as to why my times didn't improve at Wakefield with them in instead of the stock seats :P
