The old wheel is lookin' average and TheMissus likes the look of the wheel in the SE. Ya reckon it'd be an easy wap?

Yep, except for the airbag.

I was looking at a Nardi wheel for my Clubman which was quite similar. I don't remember the name now, but it might be an option.

The wheel should fit without a problem. The airbag won't work, but you'll need to leave it in place or the whole thing will look terrible. If you can get an SE steering wheel complete with an unused airbag for under $1000 I'd say you'd found a great deal (especially since most places will want to sell the front airbags as a set). :) Or ... a similar looking, brand new, aftermarket wheel (Nardi, etc.) should be less than half that much. :)

Give Mania a call and ask them about the actual fitting. They should be able to tell you if it'll physically go on the earlier car.
