An MX5 at last
The only mods I intend to do in the near future are to add a radio/cd player and airconditioning. It's a bit brutal stuck in traffic in mid 30 deg heat. Other than that I'll just enjoy driving the car. I have no intention racing it at all.

Here we go, touchy..
All i was saying is that the mod bug gets everyone, even the ones that say they wont do it. Is there a reason why you had to go that way.

pfffffffffffft............I used to mod the f*ck out of every car/4wd/motorbike I owned...........I certainly don't see any reason to mod our NC, I love it just the way it is...........if/when things fail or wear out I might consider aftermarket stuff, but I won't be changing anything just for the sake of it, I haven't seen any aftermarket bit I just HAVE to have, most of it is just cosmetic without any real benefit to me or the car.....but hey, that's just me, everyone has their own personal preference when it comes to their toys............I've seen NC owners salivating over a supercharger kit that they won't get any change out of 10 grand for......just to get a bit more power output over an SP???...............can't see the point myself.........I can think of a helluva lot more I can spend 10 thousand frigging dollars on that will benefit me a lot more than 50/60 KW in a car that goes a LOT quicker than its allowed to on public roads, & handles track work just as well as any other model of MX-5.
I have installed a Voodoo gearknob (worth 10 kw I'm told )..........& I'll have a look at that new IL Motorsport replacement thingy for the silly centre console cupholders, but that's it

Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

Well i just think the mod bug gets everyone, whether it is a chrom ring around the hazard button, or new rims, its hard to find an mx5 untouched.

I suppose it's back to me to comment. No, I not against modifying a car. In fact I have two Morris Minors. One is a '59 Ute that is original except for an alternator, alarm system and CD player. The other is a '54 2 door with boosted front disc brakes, telescopic shocks, front and rear sway bars, blueprinted Datsun 1200 motor, 5 speed box, QI headlights. The body is totally dechromed and painted maroon and black, louvred bonnet, modified boot lid, blank firewall. Apart from the mods for appearance, the rest are to make the car more user friendly on today's roads, and safer.
As far as the MX goes, it doesn't need any mods to make it a pleasure to drive. One of the main reasons my wife suggested buying one after years of old English classics. I may look at upgrading the brakes to 1.8L specs but no changes just for appearance. The paint job is enough. In other words - If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Who can argue as long as you're happy with it?
Enjoy it!
Would you mind sharing some pics of your other toys? They sounds interesting...

Here are my other two toys.
The Ute was my everyday transport until the "5" came along. It is currently laidup with clutch problems. As can be seen the 2 Door still has a lot of work to be done on it before it can be used.

you obviously havent looked very hard then have you mate?
take a leaf out of mx5 club of nsw, most of them are untouched, unless you call replacement fluids and tyre changes a mod
if you havent noticed either, the majority of the people on this forum arent younguns like we are, i'm sure back in the day they had a modded car, but meh, this man has bought the car, and he can do what he wants with it, he doesnt need people in his build thread talking sh*t, like you do in almost every thread you post in.
have some common curtiousy for Soft-top and the rest of the forum.
congratulations once again Soft-top, i am liking that mini truck, looks immaculate for its age

Those morries look lovely, I've always wanted one, though I think that was partly because I figured that if an A series fits then maybe a L18 or L20B might fit aswell

Ah yes, I remember that one! Congratulations on the purchase Soft-Top, and serious kudos for your other toys! Some great work has been done there.
Welcome to the forums.
Crzymx, you might want to check out carsales to see unmodded 5s. I have done a weekly search for the past 3 odd years to see what's around and there are plenty of untouched ones going all the time.

he doesnt need people in his build thread talking sh*t, like you do in almost every thread you post in.
Look over your post and see whos talking sh*t. You would think that out of respect you would not start and argument in someone elses thread, but then again im the idiot. Im just going to defend myself then leave it because i do have respect. If you would care to read and stop being a prick because you think you have status with your post count, i was just being friendly in a sarcastic way, full stop. This whole thing is revolving around him being alowed to not modify it, but everyones ignoring the fact that he said he wants to put in a cd player, aircon, and upgrade to 1.8ltr spec brakes. Im pretty sure these are mods.
Stop being so touchy, and see the humour in things. Im sorry if i offended you soft top by saying that its hard to leave the mx5 untouched, because thats what your gonna do right. Mxhevn, sorry for offending you because i know your really sensative, its pretty obvious, but you seriously have to let the whole 'ive been here longer i know more' thing go, because any normal person wouldnt have taken what i said as an insult, just friendly sarcasm. For gods sake what did i say that was so bad? "The mod bug gets everyone" because it bloody does! Even if it is a cd player and aircon, thats a mod, new tyres, new oils, safety upgrade, roll bar.. so what i said wasnt so bad after all. You make it out like im trying to sabotage his thread by suggesting that hes gonna wanna do something to it even though he said he didnt want to at first, as that seems to be the culture on this forum, if you cant deal with that, then leave. Stop trying to attack me, because if anyone else said it you wouldnt have said anything. Show a little bit of respect to your fellow forumites because all i ever try to do is gain knowledge, and help. You seriously have to grow up and leave me alone.
Im sorry softop if this has ruined your thread, but you should really be looking to blame the people who have attacked others for no reason.
