Nobrainer - Do NC struts fit NA/NB's?

Postby Rorge » Thu Jan 22, 2009 10:29 am

The NC coilovers were offered to me for free, but if they're not going to fit, then that's that!

I really am sorry mx52nv, i actually thought you were one of the tools who'd kept hassling me in my for sale thread the other day which is why i just gave it to you. I'm sure you're full of different answers i'm trying to find out about setting my little $hitbox up for the track, i hope you're thick skinned enough to handle my firey words. I feel guilty having to ask my mate Cal everything i'm yet to find out!

I agree.
I had thoughts we had another yakob or a troll on board again. I am glad I was wrong.
Fwiw get the struts if they are freebies and eBay them.

going by his sig line rorge is a regular at performance forums , and banter like that seems to be par for the course over there. i actually find that sort of thing entertaining and a bit of a laugh, every now and then. doesn't seem to go down to well around here tho... (i've been guilty of crossing that line myself on a few occasions).

Yeah that's right Fatty i was gong mention i'm used to the rough banter on www.performanceforums.com. I'm one of the administrators over there. It's a tough place, but the people there have alot more REAL technical knowledge than any other forum i've ever come across. Although obviously we still need the model/make specific forums for those nitty gritty answers we often need!

I won't take the coilovers and ebay them. A mate offered them to me as a favour, i'd feel pretty crumby taking his free coilovers and cashing in on them! :?

wow, intresting thread this turned out to be, Good on you Rorge for appoigising, everyone has their days, i can be a can't sometimes myself.

but as mentioned there have been alot of wankers joining this forum lately, and i actually thought you were another one untill i read further on.

off topic, if you are looking for coilovers, be sure to check out the used car parts section, there was a nice set of CST coils that went for a stupid $600!

Haha the first few posts on a new forum are often a sign of what is to come from a member, so sorry boys i can be a prick!!

I am all for succint blunt answers but i also like to know why something will or won't work because i like to make things that shouldn't work work! :) It's fun to get a bit creative on cars, my old supra with a 1jz ran an ARB diesel landcruiser upgrade turbo once i was finished with it... Wheelspin when the external gate opened in 5th (on 1bar) was always worth a laugh!

I think they "fit" but NA dampers are shorter in length and the springs are also shorter standard. NB top hats allow for more travel than the NA ones.

If you have NA height adjustable shocks you can usually adjust them to accommodate the NB.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I have edited your comment as I think you're starting to realise that type of riceboy flame war is not appropriate or appreciated here.

BUT ... I can also understand your frustration, you asked a very simple question and rather than be offered a solution you were quizzed on the semantics of struts or dampers or shock absorbers. I think it was painfully obvious what you were asking.

As a new user to the forum it wasn't a very friendly introduction, I hope that your question has been answered and that you stick around. You'll be surprised how much easier this forum is to use over others because you don't need to battle the egos and flame wars (as often).

nothing to be sorry for mate, everyone was like you at one stage.

i'm not to certian on what exactaly is needed to fit na coilovers to the nb, but i know it can be done, i thought it was a straight fit myself :?:

over the years of my project i have saved a fair bit of websites, here are some aussie companies that should be able to help you out.

www.mx5mania.com.au (sydney NSW)
www.mx5factory.com.au (Melbourne Vic)
www.mx5racing.com.au (Cenrtal Coast NSW)
www.mx5plus.com.au (Queensland)
www.mx5centre.com.au

if you can, just get some nb coils, i may be selling mine soon (tein superstreets) as i would like to upgrade.
