Back on topic.

I have removed my gorgeous CF mania intake (which Ben got off me, then Cheyne got off Ben...bit of a floozy that intake, but I digress) and put
the windscreen washer bottle in front of the hole.
Very, very hard to see if there is a hole there and if you were seriously concerned then you could put a round plate (steel, alloy, plastic, etc) over the hole - silicone it in place and then fit the washer bottle
there.
I seriously doubt that anyone will see it and question it.
This is not the best pic, but you can see the washer bottle and no visible hole.

ps. did I mention that CF mania intake is gorgeous?

Needs more turbo :P

If you are concerned with the hole left behind, bondo/silastic is not the way to go as the heat will cure it incorrectly and make it look like ass....
Use aluminium plate and secure it with nuts and bolts, use a lock washers and it should not be defectable.
Huh?

Yeah but any type of rivet or bolt is way too obvious, someones gonna know there was a whole if they see bolts and rivets etc etc.

Move the Mazda compliance plate over the hole? :D

Move or fit another washer bottle somewhere else.

Yeah thats a good idea  I was thinking cover it with something, coz honestly any inspector wouldnt notice it as it is covered from behind. So as long as the wholes covered without any obvious signs of there being a change (nuts and bolts) i should be fine.

We do blue slips and pinks slips here in NSW and the best "cover up" I saw was a small rectangle of stainless steel with an Elf engine oil sticker stuck to it. It was just stuck on to cover the hold and looked like a nice neat decal. You would never pick it unless you looked pretty hard which is unlikely unless the inspector had prior knowledge.

i remember talking to someone about this awhile ago.. and they were saying that any hole in a structural part of the car must be reinforced around the out side of the hole so the section dose not loose any strength.
as far as fire walls go im not sure.. but any hole has to be pretty much water tight not so much for if the car bursts into flames but if it decides to blow all its oil out its not going to blind the driver... thats why raising your bonnet drifter style isnt legal.. nore is removing the seal along the back edge for better air flow through the engine bay.

in any case if you can show an engineer that it still complies with these or how youve done something to make it comply they shouldnt have any probs signing it off.. but most of em would probably rather talk to you before you done it..
