Car covers do move around due to wind, animals and other unmentionables, and if your car has any dust on it, it will act like diamond encrusted sand paper on your paintwork.
Make sure when you use the cover that it is held down tightly, to minimise any movement, so it won't rub on the paint.

What I was going to say as well. I unfortunately park mine on the street too. I keep mine under a cover whenever i am not going to use it for a few days. I keep it tightly attached using large bulldog clips and make sure it is clean before I do so. I also have a cover which has a soft inside lining.

Do you use anything to avoid the cover being stolen? thats what im afraid of spending over $100 on a cover and it getting stolen after a few days or a few weeks time

You park on the street and having the cover damaged or stolen is in my opinion a definite risk. Another problem with parking in the street with a cover on is that it obscures the rear lamps and the side reflectors. Any car approaching from the rear will not see the reflectors in your rear lamps. If you want to give the car some protection use a sun shield inside windscreen to keep some heat off the dash and maybe cover over steering wheel. If the car is polished and kept clean it should give pretty good protection for your paintwork. Any car parked on the street rather than locked in your garage is at higher risk of being interfered with but of course not everyone can avoid that situation. I might add that many folks park their cars outside in their driveways etc and modern paintwork is very durable.

I have a cover that only covers the cockpit area. I.E covers the roof side windows front screen and rear window. has straps that hook onto the wheels to keep it on. Keeps the sun out of the interior. don't know where you can buy them, this one was custom made. I can put up a couple of pics tomorrow if you like.

Would it be a good idea to use one of those tent fly silver covers as car covers. Even thou the shape might not fit i guess it would provide good prtection against sun, rain, wind and maybe even hail if coverd and fixed tightly. Any opinions?
