Hammer I just re read my earlier comment it could have been worded better- I meant that you appeared to be doing the right things ie not overpolishing or using heavy cutters.

That sounds like a good idea, in the meantime, I'll be sanding down my hardtop to its bare fibreglass. I will be overseas for a while soon and when I get back I'll be back at uni, hopefully I will have the time to finish this project before winter rolls in. I'll update how it goes when I ask a professional about it.

Hammer, in the past I have always found that the older the paint finish, the more chance of paint transfer onto whatever you are using to polish it, regardless of the compound used in the process. I have never been worried by it, its just a way of bring your paint back to life!
In fact, just this evening I was polishing a couple of marks from the paint, caused by the last attack on phillip island, and noticed that i could see the paint color on the rag. ( Mine is a '95 NA8)
+1 for the respirator and gloves whilst painting with 2 pak, I've seen too many folks not worrying about it and then wondering why they don't feel so great afterwards....
Also, an inline water filter on your airline, is essential for a good finish!
Cheers
Chris
