Even with the exchange rate and postage buying from Corksport still works out to be about $25.00 cheaper a set.

I think I will! :D Postage for one set compared to three sets only saves a few $ so I might just order my set.

I've got them (from Corksport) and I'd say to only bother if your current mounts are stuffed. If so, you may as well upgrade but otherwise the difference is small. They do make more noise at certain revs too - not much but some people seem to want to drive two-seat luxury cars  .

The OE mounts will be carefully designed and the rubber specified to suit the car. The supplier will make the rubber to the agreed spec including its hardness and other requirements. If you make the rubber harder it will certainly change the harmonics and may have unwanted side effects I would not consider this for a standard car. The photo of the mounts showed the rubber parting from the metal. When the mounts are made the metal is primed with a bonding agent before the rubber is moulded and I would think that this is the "weak point".

dont really know why... economy went from about 9.2l/100km down to about 8.7l/100km after the new mounts were installled. but my old mounts were stuffed as the pics show, so maybe the spark/ignition was not 100% due to the engine moving around alot... ?

Could it be more to do with the fact that it's the holiday season? My fuel economy has dropped by about the same amount, and I'm not driving any differently.

I didn't notice any negative side effects when I changed to the SE engine mounts Mr Morlock, all positive.

Ah, but Garry, the SE mounts, unlike the the Mazdaspeed/Mazda Competition mounts, are supplied as OEM by Mazda and hence are not EVIL.

Got it in one Damo. The exact same mounts in any other model of MX5 are not natural; and therefore will cause the earth to rotate on a new axis, dooming mankind.
