ALso if anyone does decide to attend I will be taking my incar video gear so I can also film your car. Provided you are not too fast (or slow).

Friday went well, lost both front centre caps off of my alloys, but i was pushing it pretty hard later on in the day, i'll remember to take themoff before hitting the track next time. Format is 20 minute sessions every hour, sessions devided up into street cars, open wheelers and race cars.
As for who went, well from these forums it was me in my nb8b, Cass in his skyline and then alex and a friend tagged along as spectators for the day.
There were 2 other mx5's down there, an nb8a with act plates and a race prepped na.
All up was a good day out though!
Black 2000 NB8B, lowered with skirts, voodoo, pioneer head unit, bd roll bar, sparco sprint V, more mods coming soon...

Yep, Friday went heaps well! The Riceline didn't skip a beat. Though, a couple of times I got caught behind cars that handed my arse to me on the straight, but failed to carry any speed through the corners... but you get that lol
Ummm... so that NB with the V8 in it? That didn't count as an MX-5?
As for Wakefield next week... I'm going to give my car a little break from the track, but my next outing is on Friday 23rd of Jan at Eastern Creek

Sounds like a worthwhile day out. I assumed these days were poorly attended. Much more fun to be on the trac k with some traffic to pace yourself against, even if they all speed past on the straights. Are there any rules re overtaking etc...

I will not be attending Wakefield this week. My rotors arrived but were the wrong spec It will be two weeks before the correct ones arrive Not worth fitting my race pads to rotors which are at minimum thickness.
HIC-45S are you doing the private practice day on the 23rd? You still need a comp license to attend these right?

There isn't an overtaking rule per se, but it is etiquette to slow down and wave past faster cars. I hate it when I'm being held up so I keep an eye on my mirrors to make sure I'm not holding up anyone myself
Well that sucks
All you need is neck to wrist to feet clothing (preferably wool or cotton), a helmet that has that shiny silver Australian Standards sticker on it, a car (no really, no joke! You need a car ) and a CAMS L2S. You can get a L2S if you are a member of an affiliated car club, like Mazda MX-5 Club of New South Wales or SAU or similar.
All you need to do it fill out a form, send it with some money and they send you a licence back. You only need to sit tests and stuff if you want the higher licences

So for private practice at EC you only need a club license??? SUre beats paying $270 for a track day each time. I might have to join the MX club (finally).

You also need to bring $120. Forgot that part

Good effort! After all the times I've been out, I haven't lost a single centre cap, and I give it a fair bit of stick. Maybe they're not as attatched to the car as the NB8A centre caps...

Yeah the website confused me. At the bottom of the private practice section it says the minimum license is a Provisional Competition. I didn't see the individual dates with only L2S license requirements.
I think I will pay $85 by joining the ARDC instead. It is even cheaper than Wakefield and I can sleep in and save a tank of fuel. I will be booking myself into the February 4 date. It is a Saturday. Anyone else want to join me?

Maybe I knew I'd be going fast enough that caps would go flying so I superglued them down

You mean the 14th of February? It's kinda tempting, but the club track day is essentially the week after. More track time is better, and I wouldn't mind having a crack at Eastern Creek now that I've got a lot more experience under my belt (compared with the first time). Will have to think about it a bit.

Yeah the 14th You really should come along. EC is an easy day out and it would be good to have a few MXs out there. I will put a new topic up and see who is interested.

The fact that it's a Saturday and doesn't involve ridiculous oclock, not to mention only an easy drive away, does make it rather appealing.
It's still a while off too, so put up the thread and I'll mull over it.
