my top tank cracked, and i figured for an extra $150 i could have a nice big shinny radiator, which wont need replacement, ever!

and my stockie was sh*t on warm summer nights, this cooling pro is amazing, temps sit round 60c (just enough for my thermostat to open) when cruising, but once your stuck in traffic you get some heatsoak.

Cooling Pro Radiators

My cooling pro had sealing issues around the radiator cap, however I'm not sure if that was the cap or the radiator that was at fault...

How long did they take to install? Mine is still sitting in the box, from memory last time I swapped stock ones over it was an annoying job, though that might have been because the first replacement ended up being cracked on the bottom but didnt notice that until it was fitted and filed with coolant...

if it's taken more than 30 minutes then it is a major FAIL.

It should just be: Flush Radiator, take off undertray so easy to get to, Unclamp hoses, take off fan, uncsrew. Take Radiator out. Then reverse of that :P

Awww I failed like two or three times now like 2-3 hrs +.
But very do able even for nubes that put thermostats in backwards etc.
every ounce counts

You shouldn't need to take off the undertray, you can reach all the hoses from above to unclamp them from the radiator and there is a gap in the undertray for the drain plug
just draing, undo clamps, take off uper mounts, unplug fans, remove radiator + fans, swap over fans, put radiator back in, attach fans, attach top mounts, put in hoses, refill.

you would prefer to reach in and undo the bottom radiator hose clamp from above? :|

not sure about the NA but the NB has a flap which you just unscrew then you can reach the bottom radiator hose clamp




Hey does everyones radiator fan keep spinning after the engine is turned off?

Mine turns off instantly as soon as my engine stops running even with the key turned to ON it doesn't spin

I know other cars keep spining but its not an MX-5

oh yeah i forgot about that little flap!

i was wondering the same thing about the radiator fan just the other day - i thought it was strange that the fan in my NA8 doesn't spin without my engine running either.

I left the fans on the rad' when i lifted it out. Took them off the old one and fitted them to the Cooling .Pro out of the car. I had to trim back the screw threads from the air cond' condenser.

My son fitted a cooling pro radiator to my mx5 an NB.

As for it being a straight fit with all mounting holes lining up, haha.

The judicious use of a hammer was needed.

Good price, does the job, not sure though if I wouldn't go a bit more

upmarket next time. You get what you pay for I find.

the earlier cooling pro's were a bit dodgy , fitment wise, apparently. but the curent ones are meant to be a-ok from all reports. mine certainly did fit without having to modify any mounting points etc...

altho yeah... it's still a cheapy radiator and i have my doubts it would be up to the task on a really high power modified car. it's doing it's job on my car tho, no complaints here.

Money aside I'd go Koyo; the PWR one I had in my NA required more than a hammer to fit. Had to drill new holes in the fan mounts!
