whats the plan for the rear brakes with those massive stoppers on the front? what size rotor are you going to use? also will the rotors be interchangable between iron and carbon

What I like the best is the alloy welding from your other cars. Its so tricky to get it neat.
So very cool to watch this come together as its one man and his dream in a workshop not a squad of engineers.
Look forward to seeing the beast in person
Cheers Graeme!
Credit for the aluminium welding on all my vehicles must go to Richard and Drew from ARE (Aluminium Radiators and Engineering). Their skills in this area are certainly a cut above. Their prowess will be called upon again before this project is complete.
I'm around the workshop most weekends, drop me a PM if you would like to pop in sometime.
Cheers,
Danny

Hi James, the rear brakes will be changed according to what the calculations tell me. It's a balance between the piston cross-sectional areas and the effective centreline radius of the pads. I have other smaller Brembos that may be the right size when coupled with the right rotor for the rear.

I intend to use 2-piece 355 x 32mm discs....probably DBA 5000 series rotors with a yet to be determined custom offset aluminium hat. I might be lucky enough and find that DBA may have the right offset hat in their limited range.

I hadn't given consideration to carbon rotors...no idea of the cost either. If they are available with the same hat/rotor attachment detail as the 5000 series then it might be worth the look...although I don't think I'm going to have a problem with brake fade .
Cheers,
Danny

orx626, have you been doing a video diary on this project? It would be cool to watch one day when you finally finish it.
Check out what a guy from Sweden did on his project car, a 240z.
Go to YouTube to view the video diaries. Search for "Hugo 240z". Your project reminds me of theirs.

Just standard road going pads that came with the calipers James.

Looking professional as always.
Now for my selfish concern... That set of roof diagonals looks like it might be in the way of my head when I take your car out for a few laps. I am a bit taller than you and, what may clear your helmet might hit mine. I'm sure these are high on your list of priotities, just like making sure the seat has a f/r adjustability. How will you ever know that you are getting the most out of the car if you don't let me drive it??? So... a roof diagonal that starts at passneger side headrest and ends and drivers A-pillar would suit me better.
(or you can design up a VERY strong sh1t-grab handle for the passenger side and take me for a ride, because you know that one way or another I'm having a go in this car)

You'll be fine, just kink your neck a little . Actually I put the diagonals in that orientation so that they would encroach on the occupants head space the least. You know a poorly triangulated node is poor form. The proof will be in the execution. Yes, the seats have fore/aft adjustment...standard NC seat rails were used.

Once you have mastered the performance of your s'charged NA8, you may well get the chance!
