Changing instrumentation colour on the NA6

If you're looking to replace the globes behind the dash Cluster, there is a great LED kit available on ebay from "Zero Point Electronics", for only $20. I recently installed it in my nb8a, and i'm very happy with it, and it doesn't produce any blindspots..

Not affiliated in any way, but i've tried changing the instrument cluster colour before, and i've never had much success until now.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

that ebay kit looks good, with the installation side of it though, i have a 1989 NA6 and i heard that when you try to remove the instrument hood there is a big chance of at least one of the clips breaking and i really dont want to have to get one of those ugly matte ones :frown:

Now that I have an NA, I've revisited this thread as I am curious to do the same....

But I was surprised to find that no-one has yet posted any pix of the results for the NA. The NB thread has numerous pix on the outcome and they look great.

Is there a bigger issue with the NA, in particular the "condoms" that prevent the lights being replaced effectively?

Any updates would be appreciated.

Well im not sure about the tech in regards the the na lights, but if they are the same as and nb give this a look.

http://www.gatorpictures.com/Miata/RedLights/

Thats good for learning how to remove the cluster etc etc, however if you want some good leds try this link on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Blue-T10-6-LED-Dash-Lights-Mazda-Miata-Mx-5-Mx5-NB-4-1_W0QQitemZ390019875958QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item390019875958&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

This guy is awesome, and i was extremely happy with his product and the results. The picture of the product is actually a picture i took of my cluster and sent to him to use. Now if there is a green gel, i would imagine you would need to sand it before using white because it would only illuminate the gel, but i cant imagine it being too hard, someone else should be able to help.

But if you could take my advice it would save you a lot of time, unfortunately sometimes when we dont want to get involved into ebay, we have to. I tried 4 other different types of t10 globes/leds from autobarn etc etc and none gave me the results i was looking for. Hope this helps.

graemebc has his dash lights that change from blue or green at the flick of a switch on his reostat in his 94 NA. On it when he bought the car he's sitting here and will post a pic when he gets back to the house if your really that interested in dicking about with the dash in your perfectly good mint standard (it's worth more that way) clubman

:D I'd like to think about these little changes as complimentary (& easily reverseable). Just like putting after market alloy wheels or brush aluminium vent rings. 8)
