Turbosmart Kompact Plumb Back Blow-off Valve
Seems ok to me - not sure if it is good or bad really. It is adjustable but I cant tell the diferance from hard to soft.
Turbosmart Kompact Plumb Back Blow-off Valve
Designed to replace the factory fitted plastic Bosch valves found in most European and many locally made turbo vehicles. The Turbosmart Kompact BOV available in 20 and 25mm sizes retains a factory appearance and allows the factory engine covers to be reinstalled without modification.
Models include Audi, VW, Porsche, the new MX5-T and even the XR6-T (as long as it has no modifications). The factory plastic BOVs can split at only moderately increased levels of boost causing loss of power and rough running problems whilst the Turbosmart Kompact series BOV will stay performing reliably and not leak boost.
Please Note: These Kompact BOV do not require adaptors as they are only suitable as a direct replacement of a Bosch Plastic BOV that comes standard with your car.

I've tried a Mazda fitted Bosch, Bosch as fitted to a Porsche and a GFB plumback on my SP. The Porsche one works the best on my car, the GFB the worst. The Mazda one was OK but not very durable.

The OEM SE re-circulation valve leaks when you surpass stock boost. As far as adjustability with aftermarket re-circulation valve, a harder spring setting should improve throttle responce.

GFB mach 1 works great on the SE, noticeable difference over the OEM bosch valve.

stock bypass valve until it start leaking. i have the Turbosmart Kompact adjustable & the change from soft to harder pressure was very noticable. too hard & it won't be able to vent so fine adjusting the setting is a good idea.
had a GFB basic atmospheric BOV when i got the car, seemed to be a well working & built part to me..

Tezza I have a TurboSmart kompact on the ET... If you like we can fit it up to the unicorn and see what you think. I'll be keen to see the outcome too because I'm thinking I'll get another one asap post SP purchase

Hey NMX516, you referred me to the Turbosmart Kompact BOV. And as I said on the other thread, I like it, as it look almost stock, it's very discreet and as it's name suggest, compact.
Though the only stock they have here from my local seller is the Kompact Dual Port BOV. Basically the same model you referred to but vents both to the atmosphere and back into the air intake. Is there an issue using this type for a car that has a plumb back BOV as stock? Will this mess up any air/fuel sensor or any other readings etc.
From what I can gather, this dual port model comes with a cap that covers the trumpet so that you can turn it into 100% plumb back. I'm just concerned that even with the cap fitted, that it won't be as good as the plumb back model?
I prefer the plumb back model, but no one seems to have stock near where I live, and apparently Turbosmart are closed until the 5th, so my stockist couldn't order till then, and I need a BOV now.

Hi Hammer, yes a BOV which vents to the atmosphere will cause problems on an SP. As for whether or not using the dual port with the cap on will work 100% the same as the full plumb back one, I don't know for certain - it would be a 'try it and see' experiment. Perhaps if you can get one of those on the proviso that it could be returned and the full plumb back be ordered if the cap isn't sufficient, then it would be worth a try. I would wait for the full plumb back one though You could use the car in the meantime with the BOV taken off and the hoses to and from it blocked if you really needed to...

I bought the GFB recirc. as my first mod. after the boost gauge. It later became the FM choice and mine has been fine for 4 years. It give noticeably better throttle response (if you set it right) and seals better than stock.

I use the GFB recirc simply because I had it in my parts bin so thought why not
however since changing to the FM intake pipe I now have to use it

I've been usin' the turbosmart dualport thingy for a couple of years now and it's been perfect. It works as a plumb back with the cap fitted and a partial vent to atmo with the trumpet. Don't use the trumpet, it sounds like a like a kitten sneezing......
I would change mine to plumb back but I can't find the bloody cap anymore But I do however get fully hektic kitten dose on gear change
