What a coincidence Alex, I applied for leave for that week to go to Wakefield two weeks ago!
Probably will be staying at Mike's Manor the night before so we don't have to wake up at obscene hours to get to the tack before cars are let on. If people are interested I'll organise it for whoever is interested. Special price of $50 per person which includes a cooked breakfast! Well... maybe not special price, but still not bad IMO

Will you have the manual in yet?
As much fun as it might be hitting the track in an auto, your times will suffer quite dramatically because you won't be able to snatch the right gear for the corner.

Hehe. You should try it just for the sake of it. Just don't expect lightning quick times, and I'd say you'll probably have a fair few offs since you'll probably be in the wrong gear for a lot of the corners.

Err, are you planning on losing it soon?

marcus, alot of the time its the opposite, people will generally be able to post faster times in an auto of the same car for the first few runs, adapting to manual around a track takes the average person a bit more to figure out where and what gears they should be in, or so i've been told by people who race professionally
So whilst yes, manual cars will get you quicker times in the long run, for a first outing an auto is generally quicker

^^^
I suppose there's some logic to that point. All you'd really need to worry about is flooring it, then jamming on the brakes. One less thing to think about.
Either way, the only true test will be actually getting out on the track with the auto.
