what cams to use?

Postby spikey » Fri Dec 12, 2008 9:49 pm

I have to replace my waterpump so at the same time was thinking of changing cams,I have the standard Na cams on there at the moment, have a set of B6T cams off the Familia and also a set of Maruha cams but for Na applications, have a set of adjustable cam wheels, what would you use?
Also a set of 4.875 crown wheel and pinion, how do you think that would go?
Thanks
Terry

The cams with the highest lift would be a good place to start. Then put adj. gears on them.
Factory cams dont benefit from gears when FI (NB specific)

4.8 end ratio is pretty short.. if you making a turbo motor thats putting out over 150rwkw i dont think you'd need to go that short.. you'd probably make enough torque to stay around 3.9 or 4.1
but i guess it all depends on the type of driving you want to do..

as for cams i hear steer clear of over lap but maintain a higher lift and enlarge the valve sizes as much as possible.
talk to ct he has a bit of knowledge about suitable cams
